Notice the sentence on the top of the window "See Ya". That fits perfectly. That is the car's way of saying goodbye to every car that races it as they fly past it because the dumbass owner obviously spent all of their money on stupid cosmetic mods and probably did nothing to the engine. It's definately not the worst I have seen but to do it to a 2nd gen. eclipse just isn't right. You know, it's probably a guy too, he should have just painted it pink while he was at it :gay:.

I really don't care. Hating on peoples cars is just as low being a ricer. Yes, its ugly but no need to go and start a thread about it...

I seen worse. On my lunch break just now i seen a 3rd gen eclipse, painted BRIGHT green, blitz kit, and NOS stickers all over the place. He looked over at me, and I just busted laughing. Not even worth it.

By the looks of the car, My guess is its a "Show Car" I mean if I had a car done up like that, I sure as hell wouldn't drive it. I seriously doubt someone actually commutes in that car. And who gives a shit if he hasn't done shit to the engine. Maybe "Speed" isn't important to him. If your not at a race track then why do you need extra performance?? And i'm so fucking sick of this "RICER" term. Seriously, what the fuck does "RICER" mean? I always thought it meant "someone who makes there car to look like something its not" For instance, If i took my 1992 GS, slapped couple of performance stickers, or maybe put a turbo logo somewhere on the car, Now I consider that rice. I mean your fucking lying to yourself. But, people are considering any car with a body kit, rims, lower'd, exhaust, maybe a wing (which I myself don't like), Custom head and tailights, all the cosmetic material,.. People are catagorizing that as rice. Thats not rice thats "CUSTOMIZING" I mean yea some people do put really ugly pointless shit on there cars, but thats them. Thats what they like. Don't go around labeling every car you see that has a body kit, rims, ect.. rice because they didn't add any performance shit. Not every is into "turbo's" and "superchargers". You got your "Tuners" and your "Customizers" Tuners are into performance, Customizers are more into looks.

i have custom headlights and taillights, but no one but those ignorant truck driving red-necks have called me a ricer. perofrmance wise all i have is a CAI and i'll be getting an exhaust soon which i WILL be keeping the silencer in. a ricer could best be described as someone who untastefully upgrades their car in ways auto performance enthusiasts hate.

Exactly.. There are tons of untasteful modified cars out there. But, what got to me was that red Eclipse at the top of this thread. Honestly thats a very well customized vehical. Somebody put some serious time into that car. Then you have someone like " Automobile Maniac" who goes out of his way to hate on the car because the guy may have not put any money into the engine. Now i'm not a fan of wings, but does that give me the right to say "Oh he's ricer" because I don't like big ass wings/spoilers?? If I see someone with Neon lights in there care, does that give me the right to call them a ricer because I think Neon lights are distasteful?? No, and thats what people are doing. Everyone has there opinion on what they like. I'm just so sick of this so called Ricer term. It's a really big insult to Auto Customizers. Its almost like someone calling you a racist name.

ok I will admite there have been time when I have looked at a show car and thought that looks cool.
but I am into preformace , when I get my tsi one of the first things that I plane on buying is a big 16g turbo. that will be sweet and a few other things. and then I will yes I will get a blitz body kit case I like them. you can be into perforamce and have a sweet looking car too. and if someone gives me crap then I will just kick there ass in a race case I will have mod that make me fast. and I will not be a RICER. because that is what I want to do so dont go saying that all of those cars are slow case some of them can most likely can haul some ass. so think of this next time you look at a car. but I agree that you can over do it. and body kits arnt that much if you go to like ebay or something.

There is a huge difference people....

A ricer, for instance, would just have a POS car, put a bunch of dumbass things on like a huge wing, stickers, and other crap, and he would think that he could take on anyone on the road.

A person that would mod their car for looks, would actually be smart enough to realize that he doesn't have the performance to back his car up, and wouldn't be an idiot and try to race everyone he sees.

As for the car at the top of the thread..... thats a badass red paint job lol. I would prolly classify that as a SHOW CAR

i think that car is Bad Ass. i love that candy apple color from house of kolor. i dont like crome on wheels on a performance car. but its a show car like everyone said. i think its a nice looking eclipse!!!

its a really pretty car other then the rims. by the looks of the engine bay it looks like he has a couple of mods on it so its not all cosmetics and i agree with hating on peoples car is wrong.

I just think the term ricer has been warped. To me, the definition of ricer is as follows:

-Cheap "fake" mods
ie: -Fake FMIC
-The clip thing you put in exhaust to get turbo spooling sound
- Some of those obviously fake 2-sided tape scoops placed everywhere all over the car.

These type of things, to me are ricer. Someone putting a fucking body kit on, and make the car look good, you think is ricer? Wtf is that. Thats like someone who thinks only cars should be modded through cosmetics and says, oh look at all the money that guy put in his engine, fuckin ricer, what a waste. People just call other people ricers because they wouldnt personally mod their car that way. Whoop-ti-fuckin-do! Maybe we should mod our cars the exact same way, with no personality. Maybe then no one would be a ricer huh.

I dont think that car is rice, it is honestly nice. Sure there are a couple of things that I wouldnt have done, but I very highly respect it.

In regards to ricer...
I think it is also the mentality of the individual, as well as the care. If someone takes a 1987 civic, put a big as tach, a park bench on the back, a 6 in fart can and some "bad ass" chrome rims, sorry if you dont agree, but I am calling that rice.

As well, since Fast and the Furious came out, there have been a lot of people who do just do the exterior stuff, and then they think they have a car that dominates all, and are oblivious to other people opinons, suggestions or anything cuz they have a massive body kit, muffler, and some stickers. If they are hugely cocky about it and real dicks, then i think that they have F&F as their rold model, I would call their car rice.

But, I agree that rice has been over used like crazy and too generally.

Here is a defenition I found that seems pretty accurate to me, and hopefully clarifys what I am saying above:

A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term "rice") to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):

- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don't have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A "performace intake"- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX's and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.

The "ricer" attempts to make their car "performance" by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.
Honda Civics with big spoilers and 4" exhaust tips are considered to be ricers.

Your saying that aftermarket intakes are rice? Or are you saying dumb people that buy stupid "intakes" (ones that are cheap and dont really serve a purpose because they are, as he said, put in areas where heat is excessive.) Because, aftermarket intakes beat the shit out of the "whole in the box" stock intakes. That statement is just confusing me.

no, intake are great. I took that defenition from somewhere on the internet, and I just pasted it in. However, I think that if people just buy a shitty intake just to say that they have one is gay, and sure it may be better than the stock air box, but you can mod the box for free and get near the same result.

Please dont pick apart that definition, as I found it on the internet and just put it in, but there are things in there that I Agree with and you probably know what that is by also reading the rest of my post.

OMG! Hahahahah! I know the kid that drives that Camry with the huge ass yellow spoiler! His car has a lot of engine shit done, and is a pretty quick car, but he gets spanked a lot. He took that spoiler off though because so many people made fun of him.

Rice is a term for cars that are japanese...rice patty... and I don't know many people that know this fact but... eclipses are made in illinois by AMERICANS and I also learned from jake/eclipserst that if there was an eclipse in asia it is an IMPORT....
