whats the stock horsepower for a 99GT? and how much of a gain would you be looking at with a u-bend delete and a cai?

GT - 200 hp, 225 ft-lbs torque
GTP - 240 hp, 280 ft-lbs torque
BTW - Don't expect any miracle horsepower gains with just a u-bend delete and CAI on a GT model.

someone dynoed that car after a U bend delete and it gained 5hp and 3mpg.

I've seen the dyno tests and the mod has always been a debated issue. But the u-bend delete by itself isn't earth shattering. It doesn't equate to much at the strip or in the seat of your pants feel. I didn't notice any real difference with just a u-bend mod, however, taken as a whole with further exhaust mods such as hi-flow CAT/exhaust, CAI, re-programmed ECM, 3.2 or 3.4 SC pulley if you have a GTP ...now that is a whole different story. The ET on our '97 GTP improved by at least 1.3 seconds to 14.3 @ 96 mph. It will literally fry the tires.
On the issue of mileage that becomes moot once you start applying mods that give you significant horsepower gains, in my opinion.
The GT is a good car but you have to take it for what it is worth without extensive mods. You won't have much luck beating the kids with Mustang GTs.

oh I dont care about the Mustangs! I'm comming from a Sunfire SE, lol so I not use to beating anything besides a riding lawnmower

Best thing to do is to find out for yourself and go n race them preferably at the local dragstrip or on the street as a last resort. No problems with the Honda Civics but I'd watch out for those Honda Accord EXs and Acura RSXs. They'll blow your doors off....lol.
