I'm about to buy a set of Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s in 255/70/15 for my TA (same 2nd gen F-Body as Camaro). They're rated S/T (118mph) I want to know how fast I can really go on them. My current crap Remmington (dont even know this dam company) tires that came with the car are also S rated (112mph) but I've definatly done over 130 in them a few times. So if anyone has any experience with them or has some insight into top speed on these please let me know.

They can go as fast as the car will go, but they are only designed to go a little over 118. You can push them past that but the tires have the possibilty of failing at those high speeds.

If your going to be driving that fast you should get a Z rated tire. Last thing you want is a blow out at 130mph. Say bye bye

I want Z rated tires, belive me; but the fastest rating I could find in this tire size was T, if you know of tires in this size that are rated faster please let me know.

no dice; close but no cigar; I'm giving thought to 275/60-15 ones that they have though; I'm also giving thought that it's a good thing for me to have 118mph rated tires, good way to keep my speeding in check; besides, my speedometer only goes to 100. I just checked again and they're on the west coast and appear to have no online purchasing method. Thanks for looking though, I appreciate it.

Apparently Kumho Ectsa STX KL12 are H rated and come in 255/70-15; I've been thinking and I'm gonna stick with the Firehawks because 1) I like the good snow traction 2) I need to curb my speeding
Thanks for all the help!

How to get S/T tires to be Z rated*:

Take S/T tires, no matter tred. add 1 roll of Duct Tape to each tire. Voila. Z rated tires!

*If you believe this, and do it, you deserve to pole-vault your car. =)

Hahaha. Just the kind of advice I would expect from someone who owns a V6 F Body. (hope thats not to much of a low blow) But I've come to terms with the fact that I need to stop going so fast that my radar detector can't help me.
