Hi! I am thinking of building my own spray booth. I have this kitchen fan at my house. I was wondering will a spark inside the motor fan ignites the paint fumes and causes an explosion? One more thing, do I have to add a filter in the booth?

I would add a filer in front of the fan, i could not tell you if it could come to an explosion , this is depending on what kind of paint or thiner you are using. But the reason why i would add a filter is that the paint will sick down on the fan and thats no good .

GD8ver2 - for what it's worth, you may want to forego that fan altogether and buy a case fan at any computer store. They're brushless (so no sparks) and have plenty of power to suck the fumes out. A large one (I think they're 3x3" ?) will do nicely and only cost you about $10.
