Is this a good price?

I've been in negotiations (finally) over a 95 Camaro.
Here's it's details:
3.4 ( :( ) Automatic V6
50900 miles (86,000 kilometers)
Virtually perfect exterior and interior, save for a cracked windshield that needs to be replaced, but he say'd he do that for us
New tires (November installed)
K&N Air Filter, Flowmaster
No T-top ( :( )
Custom-built stereo (it's basically just a sub that was custom-fit to the hatch, but it sounds pretty sweet)
The car is in awesome shape, mechanically as well. We haven't checked it out yet, we were waiting to see if he's willing to sell it for my price range. He was originally asking for $8200 Canadian, and last week he said he wasn't willing to move off of that price by much. So we waited it out a bit, called back tonight, and he said he's willing to meet us between 7000 and 8000 Canadian. I'm hoping we can get it for about 7500, which is 6180 American. Does that sound like a good deal?

6200 for a 3.4L?... ouch..

I was actually told to stay away from the 3.4s when Iw ent out looking... I have a 2001 3.8 and I paid 6000 and it has an aftermarkert stereo, not sub and no performance stuff but 3.8s sell better I suppose

The 3.4s aren't bad, but the 3.8s definately have more power. I would say for that car that is a little high. I bought my 94 with 49,000 miles two years ago for only $5,000 US. I would try to talk him down to that in canadian if you can.

I'm honestly starting to think that your car market is faaaaar different from here. I'm only see TWO V6 Camaro's (in ads/paper/internet, etc.) for less than 6900 bucks, Canadian, and both had very high mileague and weren't in great shape. EVERYTHING else is between like 7000 and 8500.

Mine did have 120,000 on it already when I bought it. That's nothing for mileage on these v6's though. you don't have to start worrying about mileage till you start getting around 180 to 200,000 miles. they'll go forever.

yea... um i live like 5 miles from canada (michigan)
and i got my 94 (loaded redonblack interior) black on black exterior. mint, mobil1 ran only. 103k miles on it. performance tq convt, t-tops no leaks. only thing i had to replace mirrors, steering wheel, tiny chips on front bumper. i bought that from a dealerwith a one year warranty for 3500 american dollars. believe me youd be getting ripped off if you took that deal those 3.4 are dogs (slow).
ive put 5thousand(total) american into my car to get it to how i want it (low 12 sec car),probably spend a few more g's and ill still have a way better deal.... I am now thinking about selling f-bodys to canadians at discount prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha

how far away do you live from michigan? if not too far i would buy one here and take it back there, im sure it would cost less than the deals you can get over there. most of the people in michigan i know that have camaros treat them like babys so the quality is here. besides if you cant get it in "the motor city" chances are you just cant get it

I live a couple hours north of Seattle on Vancouver Island, so I think Michigan is a bit of a stretch. Thanks for the offer though.
Seems like the best course of action would be to perhaps drive down to Seattle...but I really doubt my parents would go for that.

Im from seattle, use autotrader, these are so some good results
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresults.jsp?advanced=&certified=&isp=y&search=y&lang=en&search_type=both&make=CHEV&model=CAM&start_year=1994&end_year=2001&min_price=3950&max_price=8000&distance=75&address=98133&x=37&y=9
You could figure out what you want, and where it is, drive down or take the clipper although I dont know how you would get around then. call around and get some prices, try to work him down so he will think he is making it worth your time to see his car. Curious, how old are you?

17. The problems with going to Seattle is that a) I really doubt my parents would let me..they'd tell me to just wait until something comes up here, and they'd probably say it was too much of a hassle, and b) neither me nor my parents know our way around Seattle at all, so it'd be hard to find the cars...

good time for a road trip, just make sure you dont settle for less than what you want in your price range. if you cant get to seattle, just call some people that have rides by you that you like and make them an offer for your price no matter how much they laugh they have a reason for putting it up for sale, they will still think about the least they could get and if no one gives them what they want they will call you back and you could work out a price.

Im gonna go with your parents and this one and say wait till something else comes up.
If you find a car in the USA maybe they would meet you at an easy to find location. If they want to sell their car bad enough people wont have a problem driving a little bit to meet up with a buyer.

I paid $6k US for my wifes polo green 94 3.4V6 auto camaro w/ 53,000 on the clock two years ago.
Interior is mint. Exterior minor scratches. The car had a bad alternator that I'm guessing they mis-diagnosed as something serious; hence their reason for selling it. It has run flawlessly for 30k miles! It's just a grocery getter, but it's still a nice little ride.
I'm going to sell it in Canada when the time comes!

it needed a new window motor, a tire, and a new altinator, thats about it. i went the extra mile and replaced all the bulbs, wipers, and flushed the system. oh and after the engine pull and the add on of my new forged parts and some internal re builds im moving on up to a 2 stage system. hell i cant remember the last time i used the juice on this thing, its only a 120 shot with some mild mods on the car. after replaceing everything and building the engine the way we want it i think im gonna kick it up to a 200 shot followed by a "as needed" 100. thats if i decide to try an get up on a car that had the hell built out of her. the extra 100 is nothing but an extra clip in the gun if i need it. but yeah it takes some major control not to use it every day, i learned that real fast!
