hi, i am a guy looking to buy a car within a week. i am torn between a 01 audi 1.8t 5spd and a black 4.6 5spd 00 mustang. i have some questions i would like to be answered before i decide.

with snow tires and maybe studded tires, can the mustang make it through another heavy upstate ny winter?

and last, (i searched the forum and found nothing) i would like to supercharge. i absolutely HATE the look of a vortech supercharger. i like the roots, screw type, top mounted chargers only. will the charger from a later model gt fit on the 2000? would it need a different intake manifold? t body? and related stuff? if not, can someone please post a link to somewhere i can find one? or a write up on how to bolt up a later model charger?

thanks guys. i appreciate the help. i will have alot more questions tmw.

The Mustang and the TORQUE that it makes has ZERO place in snow, even with studded tires. Park her durring the winter, get a truck. Between the Audi and the Mustang. The Audi will do much better in the snow with it's narrower tires and lack of massive torque. Mustangs are slippery in the rain, yet alone the snow. If you drive a mustang on snow covered roads, your just begging to get into a accident.

2nd Kenne Bell has twin screw blower's and it's basically a remove and replace ordeal. His blowers will work on any Fox body or SN95 mustang, except for the V6 and 4 banger mustangs. As far as doing a write up, I can do that, but really, it's not worth the hassle. You can get instructions from Kenne Bell.

I tend to agree. It is tough to get decent traction in the snow with a high powered rear-wheel drive car like a Mustang. Snow tires and traction control can help. I tried driving a Fox body Mustang in the winter many years ago during a particularly bad winter. Luckily, by the next winter I could afford to buy an old 4WD rusty beater of a Ford truck and parked the Mustang. I don't know much about power adders, I tend to keep my Mustangs fairly stock. Best of luck in making your decisions.

thats like asking "should i get a cracker or a big mac cause i'm hungry" , if you want somthing good in the snow get the audi, they do have potential, but if you want balls, get the pony

mustangs suck in the snow... that i agree with. but keep it in 2nd gear the whole ride, drive slow as shit, and youll make it. i had an 88 mustang gt 5speed this winter... yeah at times it sucks but the rest of the year its worth it... by the way i didnt even have any type of snow tires.

I think most of us wouldn't want to see you wrap a mustang against a pole or even worse......

I think that was a very wise choice you have made. Besides you have your whole life infront of you, you can always buy a stang when your in a better situation. Sometimes I wished I had waited.....

Smart decision! I bet the insurance is quite a bit cheaper for you too. Perhaps you can find a fixer-upper 80's Fox Body LX or GT with 5.0 for
cheap to tide you over until you get that new Roush. Best of luck with your new wheels.
