Don't bother. By the time you build up a new 420a, you could have sold your car and bought a gst. I guess unless you bought a non-turbo shell with no motor or tranny for a few hundred $$$ and the body is in really good shape and for some reason you like the car, don't waste the time.
<<Wishes he would have bought a gst or gsx, like 95% of every other dsm owner who is N/T. (The other 5% are crazy, or don't like speed)

I like Eclipses because they are nice cars. I would love to have a turbo, but the only 2 places I actually drive to are work and school. Now I had 2 choices::
1) Buy a beater and save up my money that I don't have to buy a turbo DSM (then pay high cost insurance)
2) Buy a decent low priced RS/GS, Ride around with a good looking car, (keep my somewhat decent price insurance) and have money to pay my bills..and school.
You don't know how bad I wanted a Turbo DSM. But I want a college education and a good career also. Sometimes you got to make decisions and sacrifices

Where would I find a stock 420a motor with low miles. I bought the RS cheap with-out engine and looking to drop in the same motor with alot less miles.

the insurance isn't going to change from my 95 rs to my 95 tsi awd. it might actually go down beacuse of the whole import/domestic thing. insurance companies don't look at the models of the cars or what they offer and that's why my insurance didn't change at all.

Um, where the hell did you get that? :screwy:
I have had 2 different insurance companies over the past couple of years, and I always get smacked with a "horsepower to pound ratio" increase. I don't think they would do that for a RS. Plus the TSI is going to be worth more than the rs so if you total the car it will cost the insurance company more money to replace.

It is possible to be in school full time and have a GST/GSX Payment and insurance. I am a full time college student and i own a gsx and i even had to put a new motor in... insurance is 115$ a month so its not bad at all. You just need to go to work and make money to pay for these things

it might be because my insurance is already high as shit on the rs, but for me it didn't change.

actually you can get a fairly good amount of power out of the 420A if you go turbo.

good kit for Eclipse/Neon my buddy has a 4 door r/t completely stock with the stage 2 kit with 6-8 lbs boost and runs mid/ high 13's on street tires.

Kar-King has 420a motors, I would suggest grabing one, then get yourself a rebuild kit.

ummm in case you havent read ANYTHING stickied to the top...dsm's arent imports, regardless if its the talon or the eclipse they were both made here in america, ESPECIALLY the RS because its 90% american with its chrysler motor in it.
and l_eclipse_l , STOP trying to tell ppl what to do...maybe someone wants to do something diffrent, your post wasnt of much help to the guy whos just looking for a nice crate motor.chill out just because youve heard other ppl on the forum tell you sooooo many times to just sell your NT and buy a gst or gsx doesnt mean u have to try and look cool and fit in with them.
and my contribution. im not exactly sure where but ive seen a few good companies make some nice 420a motors..check ebay everyso often too sometimes theyll put one on there.
