The Cockpit View

When I was test-driving a 95 Maro last week, it was my first time in a fourth-gen, and I found that I really did not like the "low down, can't see the front of the car" view. I asked the guy selling it how he felt about it, and he said he didn't like it at first either but once he got used to it he doesn't even notice it anymore. I thought it might be a problem when parking-how can you go in between two cars without hitting one if you can't see the front of your car, at least until you get to 'know' it.
Is this going to be a problem for me since I didn't really like the view, or will I get used to it? Does it bother you guys?

Thats the same way I felt once I got my car. I went from being able to see the whole hood to only being able to see the top of the scoop's. I have gotten use to it and now I enjoy the "low down" view. As for parking its just like any other car you learn how big your car is.

Yeah you get used to it, I went from a car that was a tiny thing to where the camro's front end is almost 2.5x bigger then previous. Just takes a time
Hint: If you see the car get nudged when you are parking, you went too far :) back up and try again. Or back up and get yer ass outta there.

Yep, it never really turned me off but I know what your talking about... some things you can kinda line up parallel with the mirrors and also with most cars if you are just a little bit back from the center of the neighboring car's door (for most cars).
But on a side note on cockpits, I have the glass T-tops and I always notice how warm my car is when I get into it due to all the windows... I thought about it an I realize it actually really does look like an old fighte cockpit with the way that the windows are "distributed" throughout the car... those 4th gens though, think about how much metal is really around you from about your shoulders up when you sit in the car (w/ T-tops)

i almost ran my 94 z in the ditch a few times when i first got it. its way different from driving a 3rd gen. but after you get used to it, you will see that it will give you better cornering skills.

i love the way it looks and i think it helps alot more keeping the car on the ground at speeds 130+

It does improve on gas because it is more steam line. You will get use to it. I know right where my front end of my baby is at all times. It might take a few weeks to get use to it.

it does look a bit funny and like your gonna hit everything in front of you but u wont, u just gotta trust me on that, u being extra careful when u park will assure that, and if u be like me and the rest of the cool drivers out there u wont pull your car forward in spots u will show your skills and back that baby in. well i mostly do it because my car has been droped a few inches so i dont wanna dent my ground effects on the front.

I went from driving a bet-up 87 jeep to a 95 Z28 in great shape. The jeep didn't care if it got scratched or in the ditch for that matter(4X4). When I bought my Z I started parking in front of a little 6 foot tree in the yard. I bumped it a few times but now I could squeeze a bug at the red light with the front of my car. If you really are worried about the car, practice. I think a camaro will look pretty bad with a flat front!
