Rims Question

problem is i bought some rims but the bolt pattern is too wide for my car(97 Grand Am), so my question is can i take it to a tire shop and jus get the holes drilled in to fit because i bought them of the net and dont feel like returning them and waiting for a new set...

I strongly suggest ya return them!!!!!!!!!! redrilling bolt-holes not only weakens the bolt-area, BAD IDEA, but if ya screw it up, they toast.

Return them.

Welcome to the Forum... I would have to agree with Mr. Knifeblade. Although, you may want yo check to see if there are any adapters available, I know that in the past you used to be able to buy adapters that would allow you to put wheels with a Ford bolt pattern on a GM vehicle. Mosst of the time it was for real wheel drive aplications. I don't know if this can still be done but I don't think that I would use them [if available] on a front wheel drive car, as far as that goes I don't know if they are legal anyway.
Do yourself a favor, Send them back you'll be better off in the long run.

True, you could buy adapters for RWD vehicles, but I have always heard never try adapters for a FWD vehicle, it changes steering geometry, wheel balance, and other spec.s critical to a FWD.

I thought so, thats why I said I wouldn't do it. Hell, they may not even be made for FWD vehicles.

Actually, they are made, but sheesh, I wouldn't want them on the steering end for any reason!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bediv, one other point~~~~~~ If you decide to drill new holes, you have just lost your return priviledge, do you really want to risk it?????????
