shift cable broken

1988 thunderbird turbo coupe with broken shift cable. Have broken one in hand but can`t seem to find a replacement except thru the ford dealer, which as everyone knows you need a line of credit to buy parts from the dealer. Anyone know of a place I might try. It`s got an overdrive transmission. Thanks.......................

What was the prblem that lead you to figure it was teh shift cable? My 88 TBrid is having a late shift. Is this the problem you had?
