front end noise

My 94 Ranger just started making a front end noise.. When i turn sometimes, when i it a bump it seems to make a popping noise. It also seems when i hit a bump the front axle seems loose.. not sure if that is true or not.. The truck sits up straight, not saggin to any side. I looked under it, havent seen anything hanging.. i have to get it up on jacks tomorrow.. I was just wondering if you guys had any ideas??

Had the same problem on my 92. The ball joints were just replaced and I checked the wheels for looseness to see if the bearings were loose or shot. They turned out to be OK. I changed the bushings on the sway bar (the frame mounts and the "dog bone" bushings) and the clunking went away. Made the front end sound and feel solid. Hope this helps.

sometimes when i brake, i get a popping noise in the front end.. any ideas?? oh, not an anti-lock break noise either..
