Spev V Vs Mustang Gt?

Can an 03 Spec V stock beat any kind of Mustang Gt in the quarter mile?(God I hate those things, n/o to owners) This includes Auto/manual/convertable/non convertable. Also, i'm pretty sure it can, but what about Grand Am GT(hate them too)? Another question, what would it take to get the spec v down to a 14.9? Thanks

I don't own them but I'm just wondering why do you hate the Mustang GT and the Grand AM?

I don't like them because I personally feel that they are cheap American made cars. Not only that but every other person in my town has one or the other. People in America will believe that any car that has GT on the back of it or is a V8 is a fast car.

a mustang gt will probably beat a specV

a spec v wil probably beat a grand am gt v6

buy CAI, headers, exhaust, balance-shaft remover kit(JWT sells one) and pulleys and you should be in the 14s with no problem

mustangs arent that slow as you might think. its just that most mustang engines are relatively inefficient compared to imports. the 00 model has i think 225hp and 260?lbft (i could be a little off) from 4.6L v8 but its still not slow
v8s are getting better so you may be able to beat a 1990 or older mustang 5.0(if its stock) but maybe not

the grand am has i think either 3.1L v6 or 3.8L v6 both of which make less than 200hp so that wont be too fast but the GTP is fast(240hp stock i think)

dont flame me for these hp numbers they are just guesses. look up on the net for official hp numbers.

Here you go:
Spec-V = 15.5 quarter mile
1994-98 Mustang GT's run about a 15.0-15.3, while the newer GT's(not '05's) run about a 14.4.
To easily get your Spec into the 14's, get a racing clutch and a flywheel that weighs less than 10lbs. That along with an intake should get you at least a 14.7.

What about header/plugs/intake/cat back? that's kinda the course I was headed on.

Don't bother with the plugs and make sure you always use NGK's. Not bosch. Intake power gain is marginal but the sound alone is worth it. You MUST get high quality headers such as Nismo or Hotshot to even get your money's worth and it must be combined with a cat-back at the same time. Nissans like weight reduction mods more than airflow improvements, so focus more on a lighter flywheel, a stronger clutch, and lightweight pulleys if you want more hp for your money.

heres my input.. i ran 15.1 bone stock. thats good for beating almost any 80's -early 90's mustang GT. 2000 and up mustang gt's come with a 4.6 sohc engine with 260 hp. in automatic trim they run 14.5 ish, in 5 speed they run 14.1 all day. a grand am GT will run 15.5-15.9 you will easily kill them everytime if you drive good. so as a conclusion, your not gonna be able to beat 2000 and up mustang GT's, without spending at least 3 grand in mods, and the grand am really isn't competition for ya go roast him all day.. my sujestion to you is get some knowlege of your car under your belt along with some time learning how to drive your car well.. hit up the track or practice launching at lights.. oh yea don't granny shift. i seen fully bolted spec v's run 15.8 cause they just suck at driving. the way my car is going, a fully bolted spec v should run low ass 14's and with drag radials 13 for sure.

i drive a 2005 spec v completely stock (for now). I was out at the raceways this past weekend and although i was beaten barely by a GT at the track, on the way home i wasted him in a roll on from 40 mph. the only reason he beat me at the track was due to an annoying thing called wheel hop. I am getting the motor mount inserts to fix that but heres a question. Does the balance shaft removal hurt your engine in any way? does it make it feel funny to drive? I was considering the kit but i dont want that new car feel going away from all the vibrations and such. thanks guys, drive well.

also the gt i beat had intake, headers, full x-pipe exhaust and new gears. He ran 9.3 in the 1/8th mile as his best time but averaged about 9.7
