Ok I took my 99 Grand Am Gt to a local shop because it stall all the time and doesn't like to start backup right away, I have to try a couple times before it starts. Anyway the guy at the garage told me that I had to take it to a GM dealer because he got some "security codes" and couldn't do anything else do find out what was wrong. Does anyone know what these security codes might be? Thanks.

The security codes usually have something to do with the anti-theft system. Most newer Pontiac vehicles have the security system installed if you have a little plug inside your key. The only time that I've ever heard that there has been any problems with the security system where it had to been taken to the dealer was when the plug had gotten dirty or damaged and the PASS-Key system couldn't tell what key it was and wasn't able to start the car. If you're having any problems starting the car, like the security light stays illuminated when you turn the key over, and nothing happens, you might need to take it to the dealer, other than that, you'll be fine. If that does happen, then try taking your ignition key out, and cleaning it with a damp cloth first, and see if the problem persists. If so, then you'll need to see your dealer about a new key.

sounds like the theftlock locked you out of your own vehicle.......we have a 2001 grand am.......they had to replace the ignition switch when ours locked us out....we couldnt start ours either......had to have it towed to the dealer.....we could turn the key all the way but it wouldnt start........best of luck to you
