Hey I am looking to get a little more power Out of my Eclipse GS pretty mush stock, but not looking to spend alot of money, What do you guys suggest...

The cheapest mods would be an intake and an exaust. A turbo would also be nice but costly.

I allready added a intake, I do feel the diffrence and hear the differece, I am looking for an Exhust right now ideas please post... I am not sure about the Turbo thing right now, My car has less than 60,000 miles on it.
It is 2001 Viper yellow do you think i Could get 10,000 for it selling it out right or not...

For exaust I woud get a cat back ending in a nice straight trought muffler like a magnaflow or a borla. Please no cofee cans. Also if you have the money chande the headers too.

about the 2001 viper I don't understand the question.

This girl at my work recently bought a super clean 90 something GS-T Eclipse for 10,000... I doubt you could get 10k for a GS, but who knows. Her eclipse has about the same mileage (I think), and its an automatic (booo :P)

Anyways, thats my 2 cents

sell the thing. Your not going to get any real performance from a GS without dumping a ton of money into it. Get something with real hp and torque, like a newer mustang GT, or any of the cobras 93 and newer.

you know what svt mustang guy, as much as we are disputing on our own thread there, i really like your attitude towards import cars.
hail to american muscle!

Whats the most they could get for their GS eclipse? 8-9k mabey? I dont think that would pay for a mustang... but then i dont really know mustang prices.

What they could do is sell their eclipse, buy an older datsun/nissan Z, one of the turbo models... the straight sixes in those have some decent torque, and are pretty fun to drive.

I got my 83 280zx turbo for $950, with 150k miles (these things last forever... 150k miles isnt anything) Just buy a cheap Z, and have a ton of money left over for mods... Z cars look pretty nice with a mild bodykit and tasteful rims and a nice paintjob.

I know Zs cant keep up with the higher end mustangs, but they are cheap, fun, and fairly quick... good for a college guy like me...

Again, just my 2 cents... :)

It all depends. What is the GS rated at stock hp and torque wise?

It's just the same as all the other AWD Turbo triad cars from the 90's. Mitsubishi had the eclipse, Eagle(chrysler) had the Talon, and Plymouth had the Laser(my personaly fav cus it had the same power as all the rest but weighed a couple of hundred pounds less cause it had no unneeded options.)

They all came in a few different models jsut like any car, but the main difference was there were turbo, AWD models(only one per car). I believe the Eclipses was the GS-T, the Talon's was the TSI, and i can't rememeber what the Lasers was. These were all powered by the same engine, the 4g63, and produced about 200 HP and an equal ammount of torque.

However, the non-turbo models, such as the Talon ESI or the Eclipse GS, were powered by the neon engine(i can't remember what it's called) and produced about 140HP and were FWD. Thats what I've never liked about these cars. Sure, like most other cars that had FWD and AWD variations, you can very easily convert the FWD to AWD using the parts form say a scraped AWD version, However, unlike other cars like say an early 90's Protege GT, or a Celica GT, they didn't have the same engines as the faster models.

So, you can't just buy a non-turbo, FWD model of talon or eclipse or laser and just add a turbo and AWD components and have the fast version, because you have to do an engine swap first.

buwahahahahahaha real hp ? i drove one recently they are big and lumpy they way loads and only have 260hp the only thing it'll beat is civics it won't beat any other american muscle V8 either now if you want something with speed you'd go for a WRX or a 240SX with a SR20DET (S15 version has 260hp :D and its lighter)

if you want an american car buy something that actually is
FAST like a camaro or Trans AM (that is stock) Cobra's are expensive for what they do.... price per HP i'd go for a SS

knobby17, LOL, I am glad you said it.

To tell you the truth it will cost you more to turbocharge your GS than it would to buy a GS-T, but there is an advantage to spending the money to turbocharge your car; you would have a brand new and better turbo, a better intercooler, and a better reinforcement than you would with a GS-T or GSX. Personally if you have the money I would say put a nice big Garrett turbo, intercooler, new exhaust, reinforce the engine, and slap a boot controller with a air to fuel mixture controller so you can kick ass when you want and you could run a good 25+ PSI of boost. That should make for a damn fast car. Plus yours doesn't have the added weight of the AWD and unless you tell you insurance company your rates will stay the same. In the long run it might be better to mod the car YOU have already. Just my .02.

Your right domestics are not the longest lasting thing out there. But, i would rather have a performance car then a econobox that can last 200,000 miles. You like your GS? fine thats your business. You asked for performance advice, and i gave it. Not my problem you guys cant deal with it.

The problem is he didn't want you to shove a Mustang down his throat. He simply asked what he could do to make HIS car faster. That is his problem.

yea, im glad someone shut these fags up about the damn mustangs................................

i swear when u ask ppl for one thing, they tell you another

If your not gonna anwser the quesiton asked.....why are u gonna post?

either way there isnt really anything u can do to a GS

i got an ESI, and beside I/H/E u can only replace stuff with newer stuff, like fuel injectors or something, it wont really increase ur HP but it will make it so ur car runs better adn more efficient, although there is this stuff called engine ice, you could probably look it uup on the net, you put it where you put antifreeze, adn it works 10x better, and guaranteed for instant horsepower, my freind uses it on his dirtbike when he does motocross. There are ways of turboing and going AWD, u just need a little bit of cash, i mean its not really that expensive like most people think, my freind has an eagle talon esi, thats AWD and he has a turbo.............. so it CAN be done and it wont cost $200,000,000,000 ok?
my freind isnt exactly rich, i dont know who does it but someone makes an eagle talon esi turbo especially for the ESI

feel the wind calm

um yea Blitz and Greddy do bolt on turbo kits

don't expect to see a vast power increase these kits are small and you internal can only take so much if you want bigger power you'd have to lower the compression

Eclipses are

What is up with people and rustangs????

I personally like the older 65-71 Fast backs because of style and there huge engine displacment with say a Boss 427 motor. But unless you're running that kind of power out of the newer stangs, i would shut the fuck up.I've rosted a few mustangs and i'm not bragging cuz they aren't really all that great of cars. You see people buying new stangs and try racing them, for wut, to get beat by civics running B16 series motors.I mean, it's kinda pathetic when you see an economy car smoke a "powerful domestic".I hope that cobra guys shuts the fuk up cuz we don't want his kind on these boards to be bashing certain vehicles. You may say i'm bashing stang right now, but I have great respect for them.Hell, i'm looking into a 92 5.0 right now as a project car for the strip(gonna throw in a 327 stroker:) )

Oh and i'm not sure who said it but the S15 Spec SR20 runs 250HP stock, not 260.The first tyme i dynoed my car after my swap, i was running 249HP on stock boost. But i've added a few things including Blitz BC,BV,Front mount Int., 3-in down pipe, tornado, and HKS cat-back.I'm running close to 300HP and i'm playing around with a few setups to get me over that line.I'm hoping to break 300hp by my next dyno at the end of this month. And i'm trying to do it without raising the boost to much, trying to keep the engine running and in good condition.

me i said it why cuz thats the claimed horsepower figure that really isn't always the case tho i know its supposed to be 260 and that is what nissan said so don't tell me 250 its 260 i know it is

whats your car look like ?

Oh they knew we we're racing since it was at a strip buddy.Sad that people in GT stangs think they're cars are quick running 16's.....lol.It was funny to see the crowds reaction when they saw my old 91 hatch run a 13.8 against an 01 GT.It was great, Friday Night Fury at LACR.Love how alot of people talk shyt about other peoples cars when they've never even seen what kind of performance it has.Sad really.....and have you noticed how it's mostly stang owners that talk alot of shyt, i mean you never see any Nova or Chevelle owners talking smack about imports. You must be a spoiled brat who's parents bought you the car and gave you the money for mods, really sad.People with no respect for other cars.

yo man, stock 01 GTs run in the low 14s stock, if the guy you raced ran in the 16s he was probably driving a 01 v6 mustang. So dont exaggerate, no one is impressed. By the maturity level of your post, i would say your probably living at home with your parents who finance their little boys little car.
