CB Radio

I bought a Cobra 75 WX-ST CB radio and want to know what anyone would suggest about the whip. I was going to drill into the body and put one on the opposite side of the truck as my gas tank but everyone says that wouldn't be as good as if I were to use a roof whip. Any ideas or thoghts would be greatly appreciated.
