overheating head unit

ok I'm back again after a winter off of this :) my headunit a older pioneer is overheating during this winter after about an hour of usage this winter but now I hooked my subs back up and it didn't overheat in an hour and a half what kind of sense does that make? I dunno.....maybe I need more tests.

maybe you werent playing the normal channels (speakers) as loudly as before now that you got your subs.. but this would only make sense if you listen to your music with your bass overpowering your speakers...

anyways.. do you have any of your speakers connected together? my friends was doing this because he had both right speakers tied together and both left tied together. thsi would lower final impeadence to 2 ohms (if you have 4 ohm speakers) and most head units arent stable at 2 ohms.

do you use your heater a lot in the winter?

a lot of times the vents pass right over the headunit, if you're using the AC it will keep the headunit ice cold and if you're using the heater it can heat it up quite a bit. Now that it's warmer outside you're using the heater less so the headunit is staying cooler. Just a thought...

na the channels are broken up because i can fade and balnce the stereo just fine it might make sense that the heater was doing it but i run with it on low he whole time and it might infact be that because my car only has vents and a deroster no foot heater, and I wouldn't know about AC because it aint warm enuf yet for it and if my memory serves me correct the AC is not cold at all anymore.
