Im really afraid that in the sphere of autoconcernes appeared a tandancy ,very bad tandecy, ( when ingineers projected not quality ditails ) In future this details will broke and knowing this fact , autoconcernces make a buisness on it . Of course it is good earning money , but how they can t understand that users of production ran to the concurents. I know that your company as other companies doing something like that. ( Automatical transmission for S 60 , S 80; very slim plastic detailsand etc.) But remember how your cars got the real popularyty ...... yes only with help of "long volvo life" . Your cars had a great resource , they were quality , people really loved it. It was safaty family automobile . Remember your 240 740 & 940 models - it was the real cars. They ocupated all the world . Without it your concern could have reputation like so cheap cars as Renault , VW &.... But you cars are from the highest class they are very comforyable and disign is not very bad . Now i know many people who have 740 940 and they love it . They allways say : "this car is like granmothers jewels and it can go from your son to his son and so on. This car is made for life . And some times ago VOLVO means quality but than appeared
S 60 , S 80 and they broke this stereotipes. I can't understand what future you want for your cars??? Now all big autocompanies made to much electronics to their cars but only japanise make it sucsessful . Isn't it impossible to make good and beutifful car for life (not for repearing) Now all the world waiting from your company only one thing - Quality . And all the world is waiting that in future you will make a car like 940 but for example with other body ....

The drop in quality on newer volvo's (and having a 20 year old one, I have but second hand knowledge) is simple to explain. And it's not just Volvo. Any time a small niche marke builder like Volvo, is absorbed like Mazda was when Ford acquired them, quality is bound to suffer.

These companies are bought out, primarily because they build quality, and have a higher than average profit per unit. But as is the way of things, the new owners try to adapt their current business practice within their new acquisistion.

The newly purchased marke's quality standards, are lowered to further increase the per unit profit, boosting the new owners overall bottom line. It is a short fix. After several years, the old brand that was acquired, is no better than the brand that boought them out. Volvo and Saab are perfect examples, as are Mistubishi, and Mazda.

Problem is it also works in reverse. Track the quality of MB since acquiring Chrylser. Chrylser quality has gone up steadily, but MB has dropped below Japanese, (Acura, Infinity, Lexus) as well as German Premium (BMW, AUDI) builders in quality.

Consolidation is not necessarily a good thing.

If Volvolover doesn't like the s60 and s80, you can't blame that on ford. These models were already developed before ford bought them. The S40 was the first new Volvo under Ford's ownership.

So Ford is to blame for the quality problems of the S60 and S80?

Aston Martin's reliability has improved thanks to great engineering, a brand-new factory, and dedicated workers. Now Aston Martin is racing with the DBR9.

Please check these three articles with Henrik Fisker, who was Aston Martin's director of design from 2001 until December of last year.

Why is Chrysler to blame for the problems that Mercedes-Benz is having? Mercedes-Benz lost around $1,000,000,000 in the first quarter this year. MB recalled more than 1,000,000 cars in April.
