Thats what happens when two silly people must own something..

You will see quite a few of them on eBay over the next month or two. Many of them with ridiculous Buy It Nows or high reserves.

They would if they could actually. The story told to me by a couple of Revell employees is that they had a different company do the Corrado tooling and production (it was a Revell AG product, not in any way connected w/Revell USA development or production) way back when, and the mold inserts were made to fit proprietary molding equipment. Long story short, Revell has the Corrado mold inserts but they are useless on any of the mold equipment that their molders use. They have not been able to figure a way to make the molds work, and they don't think that retooling is worth the investment. So unless there's a miracle in China, I doubt the Corrado will get any easier to find. If they all start going for this kind of $$, someone will pop 'em in resin to bring the price down.

They would...

I figured there was a reason.

Geeeeeee, I'm so glad I bought one last year at €15 :D
I guess I could make a profit out of mine, don't you think?

Also, there's one thing I don't understand. If you look at the bid history, you can see that the SAME person bids over his own bid. It happens in lots of things, specially in items like the Perfect Parts detail sets that come up once in a while...
Why? Why would anyone want to do that?

WOW - $290 for a plastic kit. They must REALLY want it.. This is MORE then all the kits I've brought so far (15). Be a git if revell do re-release the kit.. watch the price fall, and we could all buy one..

That's one outrageous price! It's up to $290 dollars now. I'm sorry but I wouldn't thank you for it and wouldn't buy it if it was released again, what's so special about it anyway!

If you have to ask, there's no way to explain it to you.

Because your bid is kept secret until someone reaches it.

Lets say an item is currently at 20 bucks. if i want to bid on it, i will enter the maximum amount i want to pay for it. let it be $50. eBay will submit my bid as $22.
Now when someone will bid on it, my maximum bid won't be revealed until someone beats it. so unless someone bids $51 or more, they will keep outbidding themself, resulting in a "your bid has been outbidded by X".

i believe this is why so many people "outbid themself"

man that's really outrageous. for that kind of money i'll rather get a CMC Mclaren SLR. :2cents:

OMG, this guy really does love this car.. He paid $117.00 before for the same model..!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9142&item=7307628298

I wouldn't pay it but he seems to have no problem with it..!! Shocking.

And here as well - paid $241.00..

I´ll bet that these overly priced items will never be built, since they are now an investment. :(
My motto in this story is "Anyone can collect old models, but it takes a real man to cut one up "

So now i`m waitning for a thread where this guy cut up the Corrado badly :) :)

The maximum I would give for this is €50 ($65)
I regret I didn't buy several kits when I was younger, I would be rich now.

I thought the price had gone down as well.. Someone was over bidding.. Crazy, just crazy for a model kit, a 1/24 at that.
