gas efficiency

Is there any way to increase gas efficiency on an unmodified 99 LS teg? :2cents:

drive it soft? or do some mods that allow better effecincy (sp?)

Short ram intake...worked for me

give it a thorough tune up and then drive easy like said above. Another thing is you choice in tires. for instance snow tires and usually soft compound performance tires decrease efficiency but a good all season touring tire will give you better gas mileage.

You can actually get good gas mileage from performance upgrades like a cold air intake, and exhaust. But most people don't put those on there for gas mileage ;)

all the things mentioned above...also get in the habit of checking your tire pressure. Low pressure can cause reduced gas mileage.

Colder air = denser air = more oxygen per unit of air volume through the intake=more fuel dumped into mix to maintain optimal stoichiometric air/fuel ratio as intake air is colder as read by intake air temp sensor. More air/fuel combusted = more power not greater fuel economy.

I removed the intake resonator from my Teg in the summer months and saw little to no change in fuel economy. However as winter approaches here in the great white north, the average temps have fallen to 30-40 degrees and my mileage has dropped from 28mpg to 24. I find my car has a considerable amount more power, but I have to fill up after 9 commutes rather than 10 and that is starting to get to me. Power does no good without traction anyway.
