Key Stuck After Shutoff

2001 Grand Prix, Key goes in, starts fine but once in a while after I shut it down the key will not come back far enough to pull out.
It will shut the engine off and that's it. Tried lots of little tricks, starting engine again then off, moving shifter to different positions, moving steering wheel.
I read a post about a woman that was having trouble getting the key to turn anywhere with no luck, but mine is just getting it out.
Any suggestions??
Thanks people
Bob

i got a 00 gp and it does the same thing. i have to wiggle it back and forth severel times to get the key out occasionally. im pretty sure it is a "notorious" problem with the GP's ignition to mess up. the only thing you can do is take it to your pontiac dealer and get a new one installed. or if u have alot of time and mechanical ability you can give the junkyards a shot.
