Hi. I've been waiting for this kit since about September last year, and i just saw a pic of the model built by aoshima
http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?AOS03456
do you think it comes with just advan 5 spoke wheels and not the cool tri spoke rims?
I'll still buy it when it becomes available, just i was hoping it would be accurate..

I'm betting it will have the tri-spokes, why else would it be taking so long to release. With the effort they have put into the other D1 kits, I don't think they will cut corners either.

The D1 HKS Silvia will have the Super Advan ver.2 wheels. Everything I've read and heard from reliable sources says yes.
Not to bash their D1 Series, I think they're great, but they have cut major corners as in stock interior aside from racing seats, plus the decals, while good, are not accurate (silvers, golds, etc). They are hardly something you'd build for an accurate D1 machine, but they do build up nice if you're not too concerned over those details.

I remember the Aoshima site saying that the reason for the delay is the wheel design. Hopefully they have everything taken care of but I have no doubts that the kit will come equipped with the Ver. 2.

but if they were accurate you wouldnt have to buy the drift parts set (http://www.hlj.com/product/AOS03433) to get close would you :naughty:

I know it is shitty , i looked on www.1999.co.jp (http://www.1999.co.jp) and the D1 Pan Speed comes with the same wheels like the Vertex RX-7 (different wheels to the box art) same and the C-West (at my last C-West RX-7 they even didn't fit good i had to make some mods to get them fixed ).
Only the Apex RX-7 comes with wheels that look even the same like on the original Car.

Aoshima's RX-7 molds, since they were made back in the early 90's, are only designed to accept male wheels like many of Aoshima's older models. All of their new wheels are mostly female (Gram Light 57F-Pro are the only new wheel I know that is male), so it limits what wheels they can put with their RX-7 kits. Granted, they could include a new tree of suspensions parts for the conversion, like they did with their JZX90/JZX100 Chaser/Cresta/Mark II kits, but I guess they didn't think about that.

thats not the saem car, that belongs to a guy called kiki, he runs Option motorsport here in the UK, that is a replica. HKS japan own the real D1 drift one. and the real one has one front wheels red and rear wheels yellow (or maybe other way round)

It is the same car Believe me :).
It is owned by HKS in the UK, Kiki (S Nana) of Option Motorsport has been driving the car at events.
The sponsors decals had to be changed due to legal problems with Japanese sponsors.

i stand corrected....
sorry guys, i read that it was a replica somewhere.
but why did HKS give it up ? did they move it on for "advertising" in europe or was it becasue they're making a new D1 car ? or another reason ?

It was replaced with an Altezza; something about the Altezza would be a better "rolling advertisement" for its products.

The car still belongs to HKS, but now HKS Europe. The livery change had to happen because the origonal belongs to the Japanese D1 organisers.
