need help re: painting on window

Hey I'm a newbie and require some advice. I'm working on a Tamiya Volvo 850 BTCC model and need to paint black lines on the front and rear windows. What TAPE do you use to paint straight lines?

Tamiya masking tape appears be generally what everybody uses, I've had very good sucess with Parafilm, but that's only if you're airbrushing as Parafilm is too thin for handbrushing. From what I hear tamiya masking tape is good for either one.

I guess masking tape would do fine.

I use masking tape from Tamiya, and it works good.

I've had bad experiences with masking tape, it seems it isn't sticky enough to prevent paint from bleeding under, also the demarcations are very fuzzy and not sharp.

Dont use plain masking tape as it will bleed under the tape as it will not stick right out to the edge for a nice neat line.

how about masking round places. for example window sills have round lines. how do you mask them perfectly? is tamiya masking tape elastic enough to mask curved lines?

For rounded edges, I haven't found anything better than cutting the shape out with an X-acto knife. I use a brand new #11 blade, and very very carefully and lightly cut the shape out. You have to put just enough pressure to cut the tape but not enough pressure to cut the plastic below, it takes practice but that's the only way I've found that works.

Also if u need to mask the window itself, in order to paint the black surround on the inside, and there are no pre-cut masks available then u might want to try fisket film. because its clear u will clearly be able to see the line between the etched part to be painted and the clear window. U will need to use a brand new no11 blade, have a steady hand and apply little pressure...Definately not one to do when your pissed!!!:(
