PLEASE HELP!! Odometer Fraud or Clerical Error?

I recently purchased a car, a 97 Nissan Maxima, it has around 65,000 on it when I got it.

I did a carfax report after learning about such a thing right after buying it. This is what I found: http://www.carfax.com/cfm/FSBO.cfm?report=CFX000008759065

Now, I asked a mechanic about it, he said it could be a clerical error .

Anyone who can give any advice on this is greatly appreciated.

A couple of things to point out, it was auctioned 3 years after it was purchased at 132K???? in 3 years??? is that possible. Another thing is the carfax report is kind of confusing, was its original owner a person or was it up for lease. If it was up for lease, what company leases cars with an average of 45K per year??

Then again, it is still possible. Advice needed, PLEASE!

It looks like it was originally leased as a company car. After the lease is up the dealer will usually take leased cars to a private auction that only other dealers can get in to. These new dealers purchase the cars and take them back to their lot for resale.
It is quite possible to put 45K a year on a company vehicle. My father does it. He got a jeep grand cherokee that was his bosses wifes with 12k on it and put about 170k on in a little over three years. I am not sure of how to check for odometer fraud, I would think you would go to the DMV.

Sounds to me like someone thought it wise to omit the "1" in front of the mileage when they transferred a title to make it look good.

Odometer fraud. It doesn't matter where it happened, you didn't do it, and someone else is liable. Start the paperwork. It could be an honest error, but someone's error is costing you money.

CarFax also reports your car as a stolen vehicle..

Don't buy it. Notice how after it was stolen there were "somehow" a lot less miles on it? And I wouldn't mess much with an ex-stolen car. No telling what anybody did with it.

As for the 100X odd thousand miles. I coul deasily see that. I bought a Jeep Wrangler that a guy used to drive about 85 miles round trip to/from work every day. It was an 01, got it at the beginning of 04 with 98K miles.
