98 Corvette Pace Car Decals=Complete Garbage!

I can't BELIEVE what complete and utter crap these decals are! I attempted to apply the hood decal as I normally do, and it completely fell apart when I tried to move it!!! It completely crumbled in my hands! Unbelieveable! And the decal sheet is in perfect condition! I just finished decaling one of their stock car kits, with no problems whatsoever, and now this! WTF happened?! I have half a mind to call them and b**** them out right now and demand a replacement sheet. In the almost 100 cars I've built, I've never seen anything like this, except with decals I've made myself that weren't coated well. Has anyone else built this kit?

I havn`t built that specific kit, but when decals tear apart soo easily, one of the more experienced modelers i know said it was because the decal was old. It can have something to with that there is some chemical breakdown over time in the decalglue, but if it`s only one decal on the hole sheet? :dunno:

Wow! One in a hundred, you've had great luck with decals.
Unless the kit is a current or recent release you are probabaly out of luck getting a replacement decal from the kit mfg.
I know that there is an aftermarket company that specializes in indy pace and race cars, but all I remember is that they are located close to the speedway.

Yeah that will happen from time to time no matter who makes the kit, they may heve been exposed to heat or moisture at some point.
I will give you one bit of advice though. Calling them up and b(&*ing them out and making demands is likely to get you nowhere fast. calm down its just a model sheesh.
Go here , maybe someone has a spare set

Yes I called them and (nicely :) ) explained what happened, and they're sending another set. I don't think it could have been from age though, they weren't turning yellow or more than 8 years old. I've used 20+ year old decals without any problems. I tried the other decals, with the same results. It's just that the sheet looked completely normal. That happening was just the last straw in a fairly stressful morning, and I needed to vent :banghead:
