well. My GSR is a 1998 with 79k miles on it. No major service has ever had to be done on it. Timing belt and water pump, but that's at 90k. I'm not sure about common engine problems, can't think of anything other than the timing belt. Acura's are honda's so they are not that expensive to take care of. They are still an import so they are more costly than most domestics, but you get so much more for those prices.

I have a 99 LS, unmodified- I got it at 50k miles, now it has 103k on it, i've had absolutely no engine problems. I change the oil every 3k miles and maintain the air filter and things like that, have had no probs so far. Pretty soon I'll have to get a new timing chain, just standard.
The problem with mitsubishi is when the timing chain goes out, the whole engine shuts down.

honda's/acura's happen to be the most reliable vehicles around. they are cheap to maintain and very reliable as long as you take care of it. honestly the most common problems with their engines are the owners not taking care of them. the engines are just power plants waiting to be released. minor bolton's can reveal a good deal of horsepower. the thing that you have to remember is that you must stay within the limits of the internals. ie don't go and chip it to rev up 10k rpm's without doing internal work.
i have a friend with a 99 eclipse gt and he has a nice car, but i would never think of trading my teg for it.
go for the gsr, try to get a new one 96+. you won't be disappointed.

tx guys i realy apriciated i found 2 gsr one with 86k and one with 56k they both lil mofied the one with 56 lowerd and exoust 86k one fiber hood lowerd rims and basic boltons but i thought when i face these people that are selling these cars that im gonna ask them to change timing belt if it hasnt been done all ready
i heard that in gsr since its vtec valves need to be adjusted now how ofted does this need to be done every 60k? like timing belt or is it different
and in my eclipse what happen is that camshaft went out of balance and screw internals common problem with eclipses but i thought it will never happen to me
1996 gsr 86k 8.995$
1999 gsr 56k 8.990$
the prices are good i think 99 seems cheap maybe got some minor problems but will see
i will be looking forward doing some engine work boltons mostly
basic things intake headers exoust trotlebody ecu camshaft upgrade
things like that im looking to get fast n/a rather then fast turbo
im not a street racer to need high hp just litle extra for car to breath batter and extra kick to it so im just waiting for sun to come out here in denver its still snow il keep in touch with this forum its very nice glad i found forum where i can get some help tx for advise guys

with those miles i would go ahead and get the valves adjusted and the timing belt changed. also i would do a complete tune up. jsut to make sure. can never be too safe. and also don't forget an intake manifold. w/a bigger throttle body. probably 70mil. and actually those prices are not far off. see if you can talk them down a bit and save some money. you can check http://www.kbb.com/ for prices in your area. and don't be stingey on asking about the cars. get a mechanic buddy to check em out too:2cents:

honestly i'm not sure how much those would cost to have them done. i do that work myself. and check out that link i gave you. it is to kelley blue book. that list prices that you should pay if you are buying the car from a private party. those cars are about $9,000. depending on the condition. i personally don't think they would go below $7,000 at all.

The estimate for a timing belt and valve adjustment for an integra usually runs about $900 at a local shop. Much more expensive at a honda dealership.
