I have a Canadian 89 S-10 Blazer, i have been having some fuel injection problems, and have come to realize that there are some differences in parts between the two models (can/us).

My question is what components and sensors are different between the 2?

I know that the egr is different but what else?

BlazerLT

I have yet to hear of differences like this.

my honda was builted in canada (you know this from the vin, like any other vehical) and is now driven in america, but still takes jap parts... where the vehical is assembled shouldtn have a thing to do with its parts, the engeneers wont make a change like that, only thing that is a slip possibilitie is if you have an older vehical, in canida it may be metric and the us may be the us standard system, now days all are done in metric (thank god, the idiots at auto zone dont get fractions to well) so you should be able to use canadian parts on an american truck and vice versa

see i have replaced alot of parts and sensors and came to the confusion with the egr valve and solinoid. They are different, to the point where the the egr valves were very different, and the egr solinoids were also very different and of course mine was the more expensive version.

The vechile was assembeled in canada but everything in it is MPH and what not, not KmPH. So i am trying to figure out if some other sensor is messed up and giving me problems.

There should only be 2 EGR valves, old and current... The older style for the TBI and is vac controlled and is around 60 bux (us) the newer style used on CPI and CSFI is electronic and runs about 120 (us). Now that's not to say that different brands don't have different prices for the same part. But there is no way in hell that the canadian manufactured parts are different. Hell, even in the US, half the replacement parts I've ever gotten were manufactured in the US.

I haven't heard of any parts being different for Canada and the US, The only reason I could see for them to be different would possibly be conflicting emission laws.

I was just wondering. Is it true that Canadians say "eh" at the end of every sentence or is that just a stereotype? I see it on movies all the time.

haha yes that is true, blazee. i took a weekend trip to canada a few months back for some snowboarding and many of them use it after their sentences. the best though was driving through the customs at the US/Can border on the way back.. well my buddy, stupidly enough, left a marijuana roach in his ashtray so we had to get out and get the truck searched. but the funniest was watching the mountie walk up to us and say 'smoke all your dope in canada eh?' i had to hold it in, but then again, i was scared shitless so i just shut my trap.

We also don't say aboot.

Off topic. I have a real funny story about getting busted at the Peace Bridge between Buffalo, NY and Ontario with 1 can of Pabst Blue Ribon beer in the trunk. We almost went down for smuggling beer into Canada. Don't ever mess with the RCMP!

I have to agree, French Canadians don't say eh... But I have CBC and they always say aboot on that. You guys must not notice how different it sounds.

I have cousins in Sault St. Marie and they sound whacky. It's pretty much Canada up there.

I cut accrossed Canada from MI all the time and they're the friendliest people. They are always interested in talking when they see NY plates. Now I don't stop there much anymore because gas prices are so high.

Is it just that highspeed is too expensive or what?

I live 9 miles from town so.....I can't get a cable modem and the only DSL provider in this area is DWay and they want $100 per month. I wouldn't mind paying normal Highspeed prices at all, but $100/month is just plain ridiculous.

dmbrisket 51
03-31-2005, 05:01 PM
you have to live within 4 and a half miles of a dsl "base" to get dsl at normal priceing, and for cable connection, you must have cable... dsl prices as long as your in range, are decreacing quite rapidly... but the cost of cable plus the cost of cable connection is not going down very quickly, we only pay 8 bucks a month more for our dsl line then what we did for aol. Give it time, its like all new technologie, expencive as shit at first, then prices decline and more people will jump in the bandwagon

our price has dropped 10 bucks seince weve had it less then 3 years... and equipment is usually not owned, you "rent it" a dsl modum goes for 200 dollers, might be down around a hundred and something by now, but i know the equip is expencive shit

My story starts while I was in the U.S. Navy stationed in Norfolk, Virginia in the mid 1970’s. One of my shipmates lived in Buffalo, NY. One week-end we drove to Buffalo and decided to try our luck with night time photography at the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. We had learned that the Falls are lit up at night with colored lights and since we were self proclaimed shutter bugs, we invited our dates to a night out at the Falls with Dinner, drinks, and a little stop for some pictures. We made it over the Peace Bridge, onto the Canadian side, and were greeted by the RCMP. We were asked our citizenship, what we were planning to do in Canada, and how long we planned to be in Canada. We explained to the officer that we’re only visiting for the evening for dinner and pictures at the Falls. “Pull into the first open stall” as he pointed over his shoulder. My buddy, me, and our dates all looked at each other trying to figure out what was wrong. A 2nd RCMP officer approached us and told all of us to get out of the car and to proceed into the office to see the Desk Sergeant, and to leave the keys behind. We did. We went through another round of questions by the Desk Sergeant, asked to produce Identification papers, if we had anything to declare, and asked how much money we were bringing into Canada. We answered all of his questions including the one about the money. (We had about $200 USD between the four of us. In 1975 that was a lot of money.) All was going well and we thought we would be out of there and on our way in a minute or two, when the RCMP that was “inspecting” our car came walking through the door carrying a single can of hot Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer by the plastic six-pack holder. He carried this can in with two fingers, with his arm fully extended as if it were a Skunk.. “Where did you find that” the Desk Sergeant asked? “In the Trunk” he replied. This RCMP was at least 6 ½ feet tall with arms as big as my legs. He walked straight towards me (since I was the tallest of the group) with the can of beer, placed it on the Desk Sergeant’s desk, got right up into my face and asked me without blinking if I knew what that was. “A can of Beer?” I responded politely. “CONTRABAND” He shouted with a sparkle in his eye. “Do you know what the penalty is for smuggling beer into Canada, He asked? I thought we were all going to spend the night in a Canadian jail. I blurted out that I didn’t know, but he was welcome to keep the can of beer, but somehow, he wasn’t impressed with my mild attempt at humor. At this point, the desk sergeant stepped in and dismissed the Trooper, balled us out for a few minutes and finally let us go. The only thing we couldn’t figure out is why we were singled out. We got our answer when we finally got to the Falls and learned that they only keep the colored lights on until 9:00 p.m. and the RCMP thought we were lying to them, as it was already past 8:00 when the whole thing started and we never did get any picture of the Falls

LOL, one time a border guard told me to pull over to the inspection depot and wait. Well I did, and about an hour and a half went by and nothing happened. I went inside to see what was going on and the desk people asked what I was doing there and told me they had no reason to inspect me. There must have been poor communication, but it was such a waste of time.

OFF TOPIC/ TRUE STORY
I have a wicked story about being pulled over on the freeway when I was eighteen.
It was 3:00 am and I just left my gf's house on my back home.
The speed limit at the time was 100km/h, since there was nobody on the 20k four lane stretch of road....
I decide to see how fast I could get my car going.
So it's pitch black at three in the morning and I'm laying into the gas pedal hard enough to leave an imprint on the floor mat.
My car is roaring down the freeway at about 210km/h,
eyes scanning the road for any sign of a cop anywhere ahead or behind me. About 2 minutes into this hell bent speed a massive beam of light surrounds my car 100ft in every direction.
First thought...I shit you not is "holy crap it's a friggin alien ship".
The second I saw the beam of light, I laid into the breaks slowing to about 80km/h.
Then I hear a loud anger voice "THIS IS THE POLICE":"PULL THE VEHICLE OVER"
It was the friggin Police hawks helicopter hovering over my car for god knows how long. I nearly shit my pants knowing that being caught meant my drivers licence would be suspended for a very long time. Once I pulled over it simply hovered over my car for about 3 minutes demanding that I stay in my vehicle until a police cruiser shows up.
In my car, I'm sitting there sweating bullets, praying to every god possible, thinking of every possible excuse I could use that would in any way help me when the cops show up.
And all of a sudden without any signal or words spoken, the beam goes out, the helicopter pulls a quick turn and bolts in the other direction.
Leaving me, just sitting there, not a car, cop, or helicopter in sight.. It took less than two seconds for me to think "Fu*k This" I ripped back on the freeway, took the first exit and raced home faster than ever before. I parked the car, covered it and ran into the house.
I didn't touch the car for a good 2 weeks, hoping never to hear of the incident again...

This guy I know took a wrong turn after a concert at LaSalle Park in Buffalo and drove up to the border and said he made a wrong turn and wanted to turn around, but he was immediately pulled over and had his car searched. He swallowed 2 ecstasy pills and a little bit of mariJ to avoid getting caught. They put him into custody overnight and impounded his car when he tried to stuff extra mariJ into a payphone. The put him in a white holding cell overnight and I guess that must have been a trip. He's lucky to be alive...

No sense tying up the courts and the taxpayers money charging a guy smokin a j.

i agree, but ligitimently where do you draw the line between pedophile and not? i mean obveously a 40 year old man with a 12 year old girl is a pedophil and just as sick as a nectrofeliac, but is a 20 year old going out with a 16 year old a pedophilia? i mean at that age people might thing hes a pervert hang him, but if she was 20 and he was 24 no one would think about it twice, not even the minister at the wedding... and also you would run into a doubble standerd, remember a few years back when the female teacher was sleeping with her 7th grade students? a whole bunch of people though "wow, whish i could of slept with some of my teachers" but if she would of been a he, it would have exploded

I'm not talking about consensual relations, that line is way to blurry. I'm talking about the ones that are either too young to know what is going on or forced into it.

Did you know that in Florida if a 12 year old boy sleeps with a 17 year old girl, he can be charged with statuatory rape even if it was consensual? And if she forced him into it against his will, she can't be charged for rape. That's crazy.

Pot is still illegal in Canada, but the government has made the penalties so small, that most cops don't give a shit.
I've been caught smoking and all the cop told me was to put it out and be more discreet next time.
There's a grow opt busted 3-4 times a week in my city. The cops are just hunting the growers and even when they get caught they only go to jail for 1-5 years.
My point is they might as well legalize it, and just tax pot sales.
The government would make huge coin, and the police could actually spend time and money on real problems..... like knife-raping Pedophiles :2cents:

I pay out $44.94/month for 6mbit DSL. Not terribly expensive when you think about it. Here in the US however, we have seriously weird population density around larger towns and cities which makes it more lucrative for deployment. Out in the more rural areas, broadband is severely limited to unavailable. :P

Sen Sen
04-05-2005, 03:33 PM
see that's a great deal for 6megs.
The only reason I ask is because when I watch the US channels on T.V. There are so many dial up commercials, you get the impression that high speed doesn't exist. I also know a few friends in the states that say it's just to expensive and there isn't enough service providers.

wolfox

Dialup's floundering a bit, esecially in urban/developed areas where they stand to make the most money. A sad fact is, Grandma and Grandpa Podunk out in the sticks are too far away to even get 56k dialup to move faster than 28.8k/sec. However, they make up the majority of US population and dialup users. But to help put it into perspective, there is Cable HSI, DSL, Dialup of course, 3 WISPs (Wireless Internet Service Providers using Wi-Fi) 2 satellite broadband companies and of course dedicated services over T-1 all the way through OC class lines available - depending on what you can afford. But this is only possible because there are just so many people and businesses packed in where I live. If I move 5 minutes and about 7 miles to the west of where I live? All I can get is marginal WISP, Satellite and dedicated line services. DSL, Cable and even dialup all become no, or a piss poor option; leaving only very expensive ones to choose from. That I think is why you have the impression you get. ;)
