i was painting the window trim on the back of the 180sx plastic and when i pulled off the masking tape it left BAD residue. i don't have any pictures though. when i saw it a panicked got some water and a towel and scrubbed to get it off...nope...then i though...rubbing alcohol....well..it smeared the residue and took off some of the paint which was the least of my problems.

i'm pretty sure it's ruined.

does anyone have any ideas of getting the plastic back to normal [i.e. removing the residue and paint] or does anyone know where i can order a new one or someone sell one to me?

i need help please.....

btw the model is Fujimi 180sx Type X

kevin.

What paint did you use? Akrylic, enamel, laquer?

You should always do windows with acrylic paint since you can get it off just with water.

I had the same problem and used an adhesive remove and it worked like a charmed. No more residue is left.

it wasn't the paint that messed up...it was the masking tape. thanks glacier985, i'll try that.

Household petrol takes away that kind of residue. The kind that`s left by stickers, tape e.t.c. Also maskingtape/Chromefoil residue.

True, but you will also find it will make a big mess of your window. The best bet is non acetone based nailvarnish remover, if you use it sparingly it will have no effect on the clear part.

i've had the same problem with a Revell Camaro, except the Tamiya Maksing Tape seemed to have pulled off parts of the clear plastic. It wasn't residue...weird. So I had to sand it to even out the surface
