Timing Belt

Anybody attempted tochange the timming belt on a 6 Cyl. 2.5 Sebring 1998 or 1999 model ? If so, anything I should know before I take the engine apart and try to do it myself?

I had my dealer do mine. I dont have the highspeed tools for that task.

I wish I could have watched them though. I hear its pretty difficult.

A friend of mine tried changing his own timing belt on a 2.5. When he attempted to start the engine afterwards, the pistons hit the valves on one bank of the engine. The result - $600 in more parts he had to replace. If you do your own I suggest you pull the engine over with a wrench after you get done to make sure you've got the valve timing right before you ever attempt to start it.

After he got the engine apart again, he said he'd managed to get the sprocket on the rear bank off a couple of teeth. Just enough for the pistons to hit the valves when he cranked the starter.
