Me and a couple of my buddies were thinking about opening up a small detailing shop in one of our garages. I was just wonderin if there was anyone out there that would be able to tell me about how much this would cost for everything.

Do you have experience detailing? Anyone can pick up a bottle of wax and think they are a detailer. It's a lot more involved than that.

My suggestion - check these websites - we're not here to do work for you.

a lot of people want to start these jigs cause they think it will be easy. Well first off the only way to make any real money is to do full dteails, thats carpet shampoo, full wax, the real deal, that should take you atelast a few hours, and it should run well over $100. But the problem is there arn't many people that want to pay $100 to have there car cleaned. And you can't do it out of your garage, your going to have to go to them and figure it out. If I were you I'd look into something else. Besides the fact that its hard work. Mentally and physically.

Want a story, A Buddy of mine drove fairly fast down a freshly paved road. Got that tar all over his rocker panels etc... Two years later when he was ready to sell the car he took it to a detail shop to get the works. When he went to pick it up the tar was not as noticable but still there. Here refused to pay the guy until he got that two year baked on tar off his car.

Another friend got a new paint job becaause a new employee used a dirty pad to buff his car.

Not for me!

:iagree: 100% and that's coming from some one who has experience at a detail shop and a lot of side work. When there's 3 crews, washing, interior, exterior it's not so bad but when you have to do a whole car/truck by yourself in the middle of the summer you will change your mind very quickly. Nothing worse than a black Expedition with a messy owner. I only do cars that are taken care of now, for instance a lot Corvettes & show cars. I hate those people that don't clean inside or outside for years and expect it to be perfect after a detail :screwy: :grinno: :disappoin :nono: .

If your dumb enough to let tar sit for 2 years then I say CLEAN IT YOURSELF!

high speed buffers in the wrong hands will do some damage.
