Hi everybody. I have an Eclipse GSX 99 and I would like to tune it up so I want to start with a cold air intake and I would like to now wich one ist the best. I was thinking about the AEM V2 but its written "for non turbo cars only" so I would like to get your suggestions thanks.

if you want name brand, then injen is the only popular company that makes a intake for the 2g turbo dsm....
i would sugest the K&N fipk best bang for the buck....

umm its called an innercooler no need for a true CAI

look for an injen intake for the turbo models, its not just a filter its the pipe too so its better than the FIPK

actually the stock intake tube with the dump tube cut flows just about as good as the injen metal pipe... no need to spend 200 dollars on that injen intake with the t25.... the FIPK is cheaper..

Have you ever looked at the diameter of that accordian piece of shit? I agree, Injen is too expensive, but the stock intake pipe is no good. I paid $40 for a cheap filter/adapter and made an ABS intake pipe once, and this car I paid $60 shipped for a used ExtremePSI filter/adapter/pipe/couplers. Screw injen.

EDIT>> Cold air intakes are not a basic mod for turbo cars. In fact, nobody makes one. You might notice on track cars, they have expensive electronics so they can run a custom CAI, though.

I'd agree with JoeWagon...unless you're paycheck is 1200 a week.

Even though the injen that replaces the stock intake tube is a LITTLE bigger, I highly doubt the difference would be much at all. The only way I'd buy a new intake pipe for stock turbo is if it were a 3" intake (just use reducer couplers to make it work). Not only would you be sure of better airflow, but you've got it covered if you ever upgrade to a turbo that has a 3" inlet.

If ya want a good cheap intake.... take a looksee

I made one and loved it... the sound of the turbo spoolin was way louder than the stock accordian piece of shit!!! I did end up "sellin out" and bought one off of ebay for pretty cheap and sounded the same... just looked better!!! lol

Here's an example of an ebay intake....

Don't know about the filter though... the K&N filter and mounting plate has a bigger opening than the one that comes with that ebay kit.....

A 3" ABS intake on the 14b was worth 60 hz. But I have a feeling that RREs, or is it Dejons, lower 2.5 inch piece that you insert into the stock (but cut in half) intake pipe would provide the same gains on anything up to a 20g (with 2.5" inlet). For 3" inlet and larger turbos, a ABS intake works the tits. For 4" inlet turbos, you pretty much have to pay the big bucks for a real intake pipe. Might as well get a mean ass filter to go with it if you have a 4 inlet. http://www.posracing.net/bigmaf.html

if thats what you make ur best bet is to get a gm maf with full 3" piping and get the k&N.

if you make that much what are you doing with a GS-T and a stock turbo? :screwy: :icon16:

"innercooler"

"no need for true CAI"

Please. An i-n-t-e-r-c-o-o-l-e-r doesn't change the fact that colder, denser air makes more power. I have seen SEVERAL CAI setups with rubber couplers, ABS piping, and a 2g MAF out there...

CAI's are UNCOMMON for turbo cars, but they do exist. If you have the money to get a good cai for a turbo, save it up and buy a bigger turbo and some real intercooler piping. (just take off your 2g LICP and laugh at the peice of shit)
Here is a very new CAI which is SUPER high quality www.dvdtfab.com 4 in piping with a k&N filter.

If you are NOT running a highly modded 2g with at LEAST a big 16g, then a CAI is probably not for you. Price for punch, there are a lot better items out there.

For a less-modded car, I would reccomend a K&N F.I.P.K, and then a hard pipe to get rid of that accordian POS. Get a peice of steel, cut it to to fit onto the end of your accordian and up as close to the MAS as you can get it without any leaks. I did this for my car but almost cut the accordian too much. There are some good articles on how to do this at www.dsmtuners.com Only costs like $12, and takes 20 mins. You will be able to hear your turbo much better with this...sounds like a jet engine in my car.
