do i have keyless entry?

Hey, i bought my alero (1999 3.4 v6) at the end of january. The dealer said that it might have keyless entry but wasn't sure because he didn't have any key fobs for it. I know that sometimes dealers can find that out if they run the VIN number so if anyone could help me figure out if i have it that would be great.

I think since you have th 3.4 V6, your car is automatically a GL or GLS and those come standard with keyless entry. I would visit the dealer and get one from them. You could buy some off the internet for cheap, but you would still need to go to the dealership to get the key fob programmed.

i beleve that if you dont buy the key fob from them, they will not program it for you. its like buying something aftermarket and asking them to install it. not going to happen. plus if the key fob is defective, its on gm, not you. just a thought

I called a while back to see how much parts a labor are for ONE key fob and the programming of it and it came to about $100. Not bad considering it raises the value of your car.

I think so. Give them your vin # at the dealership, and they will be able to tell you.

all remotes from ebay come with simple idiot proof programming instructions

I thought the 99 was the one that required the scanner. The other years you should be able to use the ebay instructions. or am i wrong?
