Buying New Wires

As the title states I am looking to find some new wires for my amp. I got my Camaro about a month ago and I am using the power and ground wires that were in there. They are 8 gauge, my current setup is a 2,000 watt Performance Teknique Amp (I know not the best but I got it for my birthday) with 2 10" MTX subs. I want to get 2 gauge wire or possible 4 gauge wire. Were would I buy a kit with this wiring. I need 25ft + because the Camaro is a very long car. Also I will be getting a cap but I only want to spend $100-150 on it, what would be a good one for that price range? Thanks

Don't get a cap. For that price get a d34 yellow top on ebay it will be a LOT better then a cap......caps are useless for the most part. As for wiring get 1/0 if you can. Look on ebay its the cheapest. Also do a big 3 upgrade. Which means upgrading your batt+ to alt+ batt- to ground and alt - to ground.

Right now I have the Optima Red Top Battery but I will be switching to the yellow. I check ebay some more for the wires

He sells custom made wiring kits at great prices. Bought from him on more than one occasion. This way, you get everything you need...and nothing extra.
You'll need 4awg power, 4 awg ground, 1 set of RCA's, Fuse Holder, Fuse, Ring terminals, and Speaker/Remote wire! peace

wiring is not that expensive. you can go to a local car audio shop and pick up a jl kit or street wires by the foot and all the connections you need for less than 100 bucks. and use the maximum size wire that the amp will accept. i dont know anything about that particular amp but if is really 2000w then 8 awg isnt going to cut it. i have a ppx 2400 giving 1600w rms and i have 2 4awg power and 2 4awg ground wires.

I buy the cheap stuff .... like amp king from MCM - wire is wire. The only thing you get with more expensive wires is more flexibilty becasue of higher strand count, that may be an issue if you have routed thru some tight places but normally it's not.

I got a pretty good deal on some nice looking stuff on ebay. 35 bucks got me 24 feet of 4 gauge power, 4 feet of ground, some split loom, nice RCA cables with built-in turn on lead, a whole ton of connectors, an 80 amp fuse and waterproof holder and like 40 feet of 12 gauge speaker wire. Looks real pretty too :)

:grinno:
if you are going to do that a battery isolator is needed or else you will be stranded....deep cycle and regular cycle batteries do not like to be on the same circut with each other in parallel....can you say mucho drainage at the yellow tops expence?
dont get a cap.
get another red top or if you already have the money for a cap and a yellow top get two yellow tops.... 2 deep cycle batteries have more than enough reserve capasity to run most daily set ups.... caps are nothing but very small very expensive batteries for what they are... other than keeping line voltage near constant in the envent of very very short bursts of sound they do nothing...they have slim to none when it comes to reserve capasity...
or
keep your red top and get an altinator... Meangreen makes some great altinators. however playing your stereo without the engine running should be limited if you plan on starting your car later :lol2:
edit:
as for wire...copper is copper... doesnt matter wether it is JL or Kicker or Moster cable or radio shack or lowes or home depot or walmart....as long as it is 100% copper it has the same condictivity as anything else that is 100% copper and the same guage...
there is "Oxygen Free" copper which is just wire that has been ocmpletely tinted...it is good...it wont loose conductivity over time due to oxidation...but as long as you tint your ends andwrap them with electrical tape so air cant get to the wire it tarnishes extremely slowly...you will be tired of loud music before a good wireing job stops flowing electricity....

bullshit...... I run D34's and D31's added to stock electrical systems with a big three all the time and never not one had a problem...... All that stuff is BS. Just hook the yellow up directly to the red groun the yellow and our good to go.

ok... go ask someone who knows electrical if a deep cycle and regular lead acid batery should be conected in parallel with out a sereis of diodes to isolate the deep cycle battery...
