My friend said he have seen a Lamborghini Murcielago Colour Black.
And it is not a R-GT.
but the problemn is that, he said it has a V16.
So I said "Nah, your lying~"
then he said "Bro~ I asked the driver"
I do not believe him, but is it true?
And he was also saying that
Murcielago R-GT has a 23 Inch wheels and 19 Inch Brembo brakes.
Is that also true or is he just trying to be a smart ass.
I think he is just lying~~ :p

I guess you can do anything to anything as long as you have money, so, never say never........
but as far as a Lamborghini Mucielago, the factory never produced a car like that.
so i dare to conclude that your friend have some wild imaginations!

23's would never fit, not to mention it would look extremely stupid. 19" brakes....No. Never. V16, NO...never.
It wouldn't be impossible to see a black Murcielago. Not to mention the Murcielago GT-R is not streetable.

It would be pointless aswell. More cilinders would slow the car down. In fact 12cilinders is already to much.

I'll believe it when I see it. 23 inch rims are far to big for this car. They could be installed, provided extreamly low profile tyres are used and the fender is replaced to allow for the increased size. Not to mention all the other changes that would have to be made to accomodate this rim.
It sounds to me like the drivers ego was larger than what the car could provide.

Stroke length is a larger factor in engine speeds than the number of cylinders. I don't understand why you think 12 is too much.

Well I think I agree with Lamboholic.
You see, Cuz of V12, Lamborghini Murcielago weights over 1800kg.
And it already has almost perfect balance.
But if you put V16, That will totally destroys the "Almost Perfect" Balance, ey??
And it WILL slows down the Murcielago on curves.
I think he means that

there is no such thing as a V16, even if they do. they will engineer the car to have the so called "Almost Perfect" balance

well until they put a v16 in a murcielago, we'll never know

go do some reasearch about lamborghini before making a comment about it.
but yes i do aggree, if you put a Toyota Corolla 4 cyclinder in a Murcielago, it will be lighter and will acheive the 50:50 balance, why didn't the engineers at Lamborghini think of that?

Hmmm. I'm sorry but you are sadly mistaken.
There IS a such a thing called V16.
Caddilac made two (the Old and the New)
also Cizeta uses V16 aswell (Cizeta V16T)
and some more that I barely know...
Well then, Can you please tell me this if you think you know alot about cars...
So there is a thing called V16 Right?
If they could put it and engineer it to make Almost Perfect balance...
Why did they didn't do it?
No... Lets get back...
Did you know that there is a Lamborghini Diablo SVTT and VTTT?
do you know what they are?
If you know, they both have Twin-Turbo (thats what TT stands for).
And it is not tuned by other brand but specially created by Lamborghini.
So... Lamborghini could Put Twin-Turbo on Murcielago. Right?
But why did they not do it?
OR they could Put Quad-Turbo like Bugatti Veyron...
Also change it to W16.
If that destroyes the "Balance", why don't they engineer it??
And also if they did, That will have too much drag... ey?
So, Lamborghini can engineer it to make less drag... right?
But why did they not do it?
Lets have a look at Porsche Carrera GT.
It has V10.
They could have put V12 instead like other supercars...
But why didn't they do it??
If THAT make's the vehicle heavy...
Porsche could engineer it to make it lighter
(By making the V12 All-Aluminium)
But why did they not do it???
My friend (HSV engineer) has aggreed with my post above.

The question is why does lamborghini use the big V12?
Well you have to know a little about their racing experience to start with. As some of you may know they don't race cars any more. Actually they never really did. The biggest racing experience they really have is powerboating, because Lamborghini delivers the engines for these twin engine powered offshore raceboats. The boats who race with them usually win the race. http://www.class-1.com/
Secondly Lamborghini wants the engine to be much more important then the actual car itselve. The cars may look stunning, but lamborghini doesn't care too much about that. Lamborghini produces engines with extreme high performance at any rev range, the engines are designed for very high stress loads and can do much more with less HP. They want a very efficient engine just like a powerboat engine. For example a F1 racing engine puts out about 900HP, and the powerboat engine puts out about 960HP. On paper it may look simulair but if you switch two F1 engines in to an offshore cat it wouldn't go forward at all. And otherwise the powerboat engine would completely distroy a F1 racecar from the moment you flour the throttle.
Why?? Well a powerboat engine can deliver about 93% from the max power continuesly and a F1 car puts out 45%-50%max (The powerboat delivers much more torque at any rpm).
Lamborghini was never keen on turbo's or turbochargers these blowers where like the viagra for car engines and Lamborghini wanted to proof they wouldn't need them.
The V12 has always bin the ultimate and if Ferrari was using them they simply couldn't go for less. It's all about the sound, the size and the direct link to offshore later on. For car engerineers who like corners it's a nightmare, the point of gravity lies either to much forward, or to much backward and a big engine requires a big gearbox aswell.
A V16 wouldn't fit, would be even havier and also would have to much friction insite, maintance wouldn't be affordable and reliabillitity would truelly become an issue. It's much easier to tune the already existing engines to a higher performance and/or simply by losing wheight.
About the carrera GT which should be a LM race car but is changed to be street legal, is a real performance car designed to corner well. The engineers didn't choose the V10 for fun. This would allow the revs to climb because of the lower friction, creating a higher peak power. Also the improved point of gravity and a lighter engine would perform a lot better on the track.

by the way, i forgot to reply this section..
So... Lamborghini could Put Twin-Turbo on Murcielago. Right?
But why did they not do it?
Lamborghini have never believed in turbo charging or supercharging, their belief had always been in v12 48 vavle NA engines. and i won't go too technical with their engine, coz somehow i just think you won't understand. that is the reason lamborghini would not put twin-turbo charge on the murcielago.
OR they could Put Quad-Turbo like Bugatti Veyron...
Also change it to W16.
If that destroyes the "Balance", why don't they engineer it??
And also if they did, That will have too much drag... ey?
So, Lamborghini can engineer it to make less drag... right?
But why did they not do it?
do you know what W16 is? W is a special engine formation created by VW, and if you have a look only VW cars has the W formation engines.
they quad turbo charged it is because they would have no way reach over 1000hp with a NA engine and getting approved for noise pollution and CO2 emission.
once again, Lamborghini is owned by Audi, they not VW, so there is no W formation engines.
There IS a such a thing called V16.
W16 is because it is made with 4 rolls of 4 cyclinder rather than the V16, two roll of 8, which will be inefficiant, exactly why it will be inefficiant, once again, i doult that you'll understand.
and yes, there is v16 on a few cars, but if they not on productions cars, they don't exist.
and some more that I barely know...
that just prooves my point!

I would just like to advise anyone who HAS a vested interest in Lamborghinis or any exotic cars to google it and read up on the cars. I learned my knowledge through reading countless car magazines, books, articles whatever I could get my hands on to see and know more about exotic cars. So please. Before posting any questions about the cars, ask yourself if you could figure it by doing a little google search or if its an honest question that could create a potentially nice discussion.

I hate to be a dick and all ... especially not being a regular on here ... but ... you realise Audi *does* indeed make W architecture engines, namely in the new A8 W12. Furthermore, if you compare Audis to VW's in any given aspect (driveshaft, motor, even general form factor and shape of the cars, but mainly the interior), you'll see major parallels ... this is *not* a coincidence. Think about that as well ... my 2c.

however, the holden racing team is really just HSV, because HSV headquoter is the one building developing the car.

You guys are talking about V16 piston engine super car ....
I remember I saw it on a documontry video ....
I forget what company is it , and i sure is not italy .
some people talking about 50:50 wight ratio and Lambo should put a 4piston engine etc....
You got to know it's a Super Powered sport car and have super power output for a So call Super cars ! and it has a it's own concept .
believe or not go watch some fomula cars racing video . it's all Call "MR" type setting ,a fast car got to have a Certer position engine to keep the car balance and stable when riding in High speed zone !
After Lambo bought by AUDI , it's seem The spirit of super car has slowly going downhill and they decide to build a road concept "R GT" and etc ...(Example like Lotus group)
With new world order all This high powered car have no more value to today economical !!!
But people who love about super car willing to use anything they owns to keep this expensive "toys" alive !

Tell me you guys...
Lamborghini hasn't made a V-16 engine
Cadillac made the world's first production V-16 engine.

only the dumb ass holdens still use iron block push rod!
Holden doesn't use iron block V-8s. They have been using the 400 hp LS2 from the new Corvette for several months in their HSV cars.

It would be pointless aswell. More cilinders would slow the car down. In fact 12cilinders is already to much.
about v16 l agree it cant be true. but man, you sy more cylinder would slow the car down. probably you say that cuz it makes car heavier. but why do you think those stupid ferrari's, lamborgini's engineers put v12 on those cars? cylinder makes car faster. if a stock 8 cylinder car and 4 cylinder car would race, who would win? cylinder means more power man! (l am not talking bout horsepower, l am talking about just cylinders)

That's exactly what you would expect, but more cylinders basicaly means more friction inside the engine. There is a best amount of cylinders and the F1 race car engineers found out that a low amount of cilenders can run higher revs. In fact if the FIA didn't found this out on time the new F1 rule in 2006 about the 2,4l v8 engine instead of the 3l v10 would probably increase the power, because the engineers are able to rev their v8 over 22000rpm. Obviously a street legal car won't rev this high or even halfway, but you can build a more efficient, riliable and a higher reving engine just by keeping the amount of cilenders down.
The v12 is obviously good but it's only on the race cars like the maranello 575 Prodrive where they get a decent wheight balance. And that engine is pretty much underneeth the windscreem.

sigh. This thread is real funny. Had to register to join in :p
You guys should do a little research. Sheesh
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V12
The first paragraph in that article should demistify why the v12 engine is so good. Plus the inline 6 is a damn good motor too. (cough, like the one in my z :p )
also, in production cars v12 engines are usualy oversquared which is good for making high rpm horsepower

there is no such thing as a V16, even if they do. they will engineer the car to have the so called "Almost Perfect" balance
I do believe that there is such thing as a V-16...I am most likely mistaken, but I THINK Bugatti sports one. Or is it a W-16?

You know what? 'Ghini should just sell out and join Porsche...better yet, HSV! YA RIGHT! Lamborghini would be taken out of my books of sweet supercars and thrown in the trash. V-8's have been proven the best racing engines in the racing world...at least in North America. There are some exceptions, but for the most part, you'll generally see V-8's. Light engine, creation of lots of HP, dam good performance. So let's ad another "Why don't they..." question to the list. Why don't they put a V-8 in it instead? Let's hand over the corporate keys to people who think they can do a better job of creating a UNIQUE car and see how well it does...I know I wouldn't buy one even if I had the money. Fact remains, 'Ghini has done an excellent job of engineering the V-12 to the Car and vice-versa.
