Interior Illumination Lights or LED's

2002HD, 2500 crew cab, 62000 mi

Haven't searched the forum yet but...

Question:

1. Have stock radio (not Bose, but cd player with theft lock) - the led to the right of the volumn knob - when does that light up - can't remember it ever lighting up.

2. HVAC controls - Are the symbols (not the led's) at the bottom of the control panel, "recirculate and fresh air" + the a/c symbol (again not the led) supposed to be illuminated? Can't remember.

3. Can the light for the power window controls on the doors be repalced?
On the drivers side, the top 2 switches don't light. The bottom 2 (for the rear doors do)

yeah i have the same problem!!!! a couple lights out on the stock radio and a few lights out for some of the buttons for the a/c etc.......... can these be replaced by the average joe or what??????????

well that little light on the radio blinks when you have your theftlock activated. to activate it, look in your owner's manual.

and for the other lights, there is a thread around here somewhere that explains how to replace them.

Search the forum but, the quick and dirty answer to your questions is yes you can replace your HVAC Control lights with LEDS. I imagine if you can get the switch out of the door handle and get the switch apart then you should be able to replace the bulb. I would suspect that the inside of the switch would be hard to fit an LED in there but, you can try. :D
As for the Stereo lights...it's a known problem with these CD players. The lights in them are very hard to come by and you could replace them with LEDs but, the hard part is trying to get the Stereo apart to do so. Last time I tried to take my CD player apart I burnt out another section of the CD player lights as I couldn't get the face off of the unit. At some point I will replace the unit with a better Head unit.
