can someone run through an ATF change on a 93 automatic civic?
it looks similar to a manual trans change. It has no pan. Is that typical of a Honda/japanese car Auto trans?
I know the 5 spd hondas use 10/30 oil in the trans, do you use ATF in the auto trans?

Specifically, use Genuine Honda ATF is you have an auto tranny. Don't use "aftermarket" ATF in a auto tranny Honda.

Aftermarket ATF can screw up the shift change points, and other unplesent things, etc. They can be either too viscos to too thin, etc...it's recommended to only use Genuine Honda ATF.

cool, thanks for the reply. that was quick.
any idea what the fluid capacity is and how much of that you get out when you drain it.

it's about 2.5qts, 2.35qts to be exact. Including the torque convertor, valve body, trans cooler & lines it's about 9.0qts.
Yep it's a typical jap trans, fill through the dip stick hole and drain from a plug on the side - 3/8" ratchet.
After you fill it, start the engine and run through all the gears, shut it off, then check the trans level.
Honda's you always check with the engine OFF.
