Opel Astra

This is the Tamiya Opel Astra mostly built last year but the finishing touches were only done this afternoon. I decided to build this as a ‘street-racer’ but I have another to build as the DTM version.

The paint is Vauxhall/Opel Arden Blue from a spray can with a coat of Alclad Scarabeus prismatic airbrushed over the top. Photos don’t clearly show the green/blue colour change – it’s raining again here in the UK so they were taken indoors – but in sunlight the effect is quite good. Wheels were airbrushed using Alclad Chrome.

I really enjoyed building this kit – a great job by Tamiya – and I would recommend it to anyone.

....maybe you could get a shot or two with the doors closed?

Just packed away all my camera stuff and found some space in the model cabinet when I saw this request, and now I’ve broken one of the support struts when closing the doors. Luckily, I’ve got plenty of glue and nothing better to do this evening!!!!

Here’s the extra pics….

I can see the un-livery race cars are going to catch on.. I think race decals often hid the beautifull lines of the car beneath them..

Great job!@

That's nice. Thanks for sharing it, I bought an extra of this kit to do something similar someday. It's nice to see it outside of my head. It looks even more brutal than I imagined... - Mark

This is the first time that I saw the this done in street version. Very well done.

I would loose the roll cage, but it is just my taste.

Great skills, man.
