I just bought a new key for my 2000 Jetta. I was able to program the keyless entry to work just fine. However, when I try to use it to actually drive the car it will start for only a moment and then die??? What do I need to do? Please help!

I think boschman or veedubmechanic could answer it better, but I believe all keys need to be "programmed" at the same time. My guess is that you might have to take to the dealer to do this? maybe someone could answer if this can be done with a vag-com tool?

That sounds like an immobilizer problem. The key needs to be programmed to the immobilizer system with a VW or VAG-COM scanner.

Ok... so it sounds as though I need to take it into the dealership afterall. Dang it, I was trying to do this the cheap way!
