95 Golf lock problem

Hi all. New user to AF and after reading some of the threads am hopeful that I can find some help here for my recent problem. I have a 95 Golf GT that I inherited from my wife (she drives the newer car). Anyway, this morning as I was unlocking the door, the lock core came off in my hand and the door remained locked! I have had other lock problems in the past (frozen lock) and have gained entry into the car through the hatchback and unlocked it from inside. The problem was that when I did this, the alarm went off and the only way I know how to disarm it is by unlocking the door handle lock, which is now disconnected. The driver's side is not an option either, since the driver's side core came out years ago.

Is there a way that I can disable the factory alarm via fuses or some other method so I can use my car? I am willing to leave the doors permanently unlocked and have no alarm if this means that I will at least be able to get some use out of the vehicle. I am not yet prepared to replace the vehicle, so am grateful in advance for any advice/solutions any of you may be able to offer.

The alarm shouldn't be set if you don't lock the door. If you need to disable there are several threads in the Jetta forum on how to do it.
