C4 Tranny seals

My C4 tranny that’s in a 71 mustan is leaking badly from the seal where the linkage slides in. how hard is it to change and can I do this from my house or do I need a lift. does the linkage slide out or do you need to drop the tanny to do it. oncew I’m done with the seal sill it slide back in? any body done this before?
