determined cause of fire factory wires CHECK THEM

The cause of the fire 2 weeks ago that almost cost me my car was faulty jumper spliced in for the fuel pump in the factory wires by nissan. I'm not surewhat year range this covered but I am pretty sure it covered all 1990 model 240sx's and maybe some others. I would HIGHLY advise everyone to check just to be on the safe side. My fuel pump harness about 4 inches back from the plug (body side of harness, not part that comes out with fuel pump) The factory jumpered the two black wires together using their standard metal clip, covering this metal clip next to the other wires with no insulation caused the clip to wear through the insulation on the other wires and cause a direct short heating the fuel pump wires and melting off all of their insulation, this in turn started the fire in my car. I replaced the harness with one off of a 93 I believe, I did notice that nissan did away with this jumper point and moved it somewhere else, I went ahead and made the jumper again as I needed it not having it made elsewhere but I soldered the connection and double taped it so this will not be a problem again. I would HIGHLY recomend everyone take the 10 minutes it takes to lift up your carpet and slice the tape off and tape up this jumper or at least check and see if you have one.

fixed all fire damage, and hatch area looks better then ever. Sad that in 2 weeks I'm gutting the interior and stripping the car down to nothing ness for a paintjob, But it will all be going back in and the interior will look good for the 240 meet this weekend in houston
