i was just wondering if anybody knew where to get old worn out engines, i dont have any intentions of rebuilding, or anything liek that, im taking engine class at my college, and im gonna be a tech one day, i was just wondering where i could find an old engine, or would it possibly be better to just buy a running engine (that i could put in my car) and just learn on that.

i have intentions of just rebuilding and taking apart and re assembling, for practice.

thanks

Well it really depends because I found an LS1 for $2000 with a tranny and everthing so it really depends where you're getting it because some junkyards will let you get an engine for 50-100 dollars. Just keep looking, different places will ask for more money. Its all about chance really.

this goes against everything that i do but learning on an engine that you need to run your car might not be the best approach. you screw up you are without a car for a while. (i learn by trial and error. everything i have done to my car has been the first time i have ever done it)

Junkyard / ebay = your friends
Dunno prices. They do range from I'd assume couple hundred to easily 2-8k.

Definately stick to a junkyard if this is just a side-project deal.
