ok i have two questions, first if i were to remove my cat on my 2000 blazer zr2 give me any more power, and bag gas mialage. second question is, i have taken my truck into the steelership twice now, racking up two 1500 dollar bills, the problem is when i'm on the highway, and i press the throttle the rpms jump up, but then they just dropp and the vehicle has no power untill i press the throttle to the floor. the same thing happen when i'm using cruise, and pressing resume. another thing is i get no better than 15 mpg on the highway.

sounds simple, but check the tranny fluid level, and if its full, smell it, if it has a burnt smell, change filter and flush tryanney... removing the cat with obdII is a :nono: there is a post cat o2 sencor that will go off, killing power and gas, which seams like you dont get good gas to begin with, im assuming a 4.3l with that estimate right? if you want more breathing power for your exhaust, get a high flow cat and high flow muffler, as for the dealership, ide be done with them...

1.) Ever done a tuneup? What did you replace?

I'll check the tranny fluid tomarrow in the light, and the stealership did what they call a full tune up at 65000 kms, i don't have the service record but i think they replaced: plugs, wires, cap and rotor, fuel filter, they noted on the service record that they read a misfire, i'm assuming that they fixed that. Another thing is, can you trust the overhead display for your gas milages, it's hard for me to get 350 kms (250 miles approx) in the city

350kms is normal for a 4.3L in the city.
That is what mine does.

Just watch, as the air temperatures increase as summer set in, your mileage will increase.

Why Remove the converter? If you have ever looked inside a good one, it should be a pass though with almost no air resistance at all! Now, with that said, if it has been physically impacted, the media can be damaged and that would block airflow pretty drastically. For the amount of work you will do removing the converter, you might just as well go the distance and simply replace it if thats needed. I found generic aftermarket converters that are down at the local fleet farm automotive that ran for about $60 so the cost shouldnt be an issue. besides, isnt there some federal regulations about having converters?
Now if you want to improve gas miliage, the rumor that I keep hereing about would be to find a chip programer and readjust the program to optimise economy. The rumor I keep hearing is that its possible to get about 5-10% by this method and still be in bounds.( although performence takes a corrosponding drop)
Anyone else ever hear about this possibility?

The only way you can enhance economy is to lean out the fuel ratio by advancing the timing.
But, if any detonation is seen, the computer will back the timing back off.

Take them out, boar out all the stuff in them and then put them back in. Nice loud exhaust.
J/K of course. I've heard of people doing this I wouldnt recomend it. :nono:

Yes, there is a cap and rotor on a 2000.

they never did upgrade our trucks to power packs did they?

Bope, only 4 bangers got that.
I'd rather have the cap and rotor myself.

cap and roter are easyer to fix when broke, but the power pack helps to fit that 350 in, you can relocate it, as long as you leave all teh wires the same lenght, on a stock truck though, i do like cap and roter, like i said, eas of use
