I have a 93 Rodeo with a 3.2l V6 thats has started to tap. It taps with the speed of the motor. The higher the RPM the faster the tap... I've tried thinner oil an oil change, oil treatment.. The only thing that I havent tried is tranny fluid followed by an engine flush...Is there anything else I can do to stop the tapping....Someone please help...

Sounds like an internal problem to me eather valve train or lower. The way it sounds I dont think there is much you can do to fix it with out going in the motor.

Is it pretty loud? Could be the timing belt tensioner.

a bad timing belt tensor sound like rod knock, and I have read a many a posts of mechanics telling Rodeo owners that they need to rebuild the engine. Then they post their problem, people say swap out the timing belt and the tensor (and the other things like water pump) and see what happens. BINGO it is fixed. I know some other folks that have bought Rodeos and Troopers off of ebay with the "same problem". Swap out the tensor and BINGO! Resell and make $$$.
