hey i own a 99 ram 1500 and my check engine light keeps showing up and disappearing with no pattern. nothing seems to be wrong with truck and it has 60k miles on it. any ideas on wat to do would be appreciated because i dont feel like taking it to the dealer if its nothing.

What I would do is head to an autozone and have them pull the codes for you. They can explain what they think it is but I would post back ehre with the code and maybe someone more knowldgeable about the codes can help. I am thinking it should be a 4 digit code on a 99. They will be able to pull off codes up to about 100 or 1000 starts I am not exactly sure but I am sure if it threw a code at you they can retreive it.

yep, that's what I would do also, take it to autozone and have them scan it for you.

just an example of how touchy those computers are, the check engine light on my wife's jeep would ocasionally come on, then go off again with no apparent pattern. I took it to autozone, and the code that it had was for an evap. system leak, turned out that the little vent thing in the gass cap was bad, new $6 gass cap, and no more check engine light.

There are 2 sensors, because the 2nd one is out on my truck right now as well, anyway of getting around this and maybe get some better gas milage while doing it?
