Avalanche Broken Rear Window molding

I didn't see anything in the forum about this, but I find it hard to believe that it's only happening to us. We just bought an '02 Avalanche, and when we test drove, it was snowing, and cold as all hell, so the salesman said he would prefer that we didn't convert the truck.
So we happily obliged, since it was pretty cold.
We bought the truck, and got it home. The other day we had a nice day so I converted it. I placed the window in the midgate, and did the complete conversion, and I noticed it had a crack in the corner of the plastic molding. We contacted the dealer, and we've been waiting a week for an answer to whether or not they're going to fix it. Yesterday my brother-in-law wanted to see it converted. I very carefully placed the window in the midgate again, and converted the truck, when putting the midgate back up I found that the plastic had now snapped in a totally different location. I checked all the rubber feet on the midgate, I can't for the life of me see how this is happeneing. Does anyone know if after a time the plastic molding gets brittle? This is furiating since it's raining like crazy today, and I'm still getting nowhere with the dealer :banghead: and the damn window costs $700+ to replace! :eek7:

Well, thanks for listening to me complain. I guess no one's heard anything about the plastic around the rear window becoming brittle over time. Still no dice with the dealer....Gonna have to eat this one I guess.

any plastic will become britle over time, the question is how much time. I would call chevy and see if there is a recall or any thing thay will do.

three years it should not be to britle.

if thay will not do any thing check the local bone yard thay may have one or two for cheep.
