H/i/c Q

Here's the deal. My dad bought my '89 Notch off me last Summer, and he's bringing it out in about a week. He has $2500 set aside, and I think I've convinced him to go H/I/C. The engine has already been rebuilt and it has bolt-ons; gears are ready to be installed. I did a search but couldn't find much on type of heads etc. to get. He was originally thinking of a Systemax kit from Holley, but I've heard a lot of good things about AFR for heads, and also Victor Jr. for the intake. Not too sure about cam choices. Could some of you guys recommend anything or let me know what setups you're running. Additionally, the car ran a 14.2 @ 100.4 last year with stock gearing. Any ideas on what gears and the combo would yield? Thanks in advance.

im bout to get new h/i/c and im goin with the trick flow twisted wedge system, i like it better then the holley systemax, cuz i trust the heads alil more on this kit.

systemax is pretty good. But AFR 185's with a Vic jr. and something like Comp's Xtreme Energy .565/.574 232/240 hydro roller would make alot of power. but you would need a bottom end for that much cam. Edelbrock has a Performer RPM hydraulic roller cam thats decent, .520/.520 227/234. I'm not sure how much cam your stock pistons with take. I'd say something like maybe an f-303 cam would do pretty good for you as well, .512/.512 226/226. Now all these cams are listed for 1.6 rockers. I would probably go with the F-303 cam if it where me, switch to 1.7's if you want more and hope you dont trash anything, like a stock piston. Good luck.
