I've noticed that there are differnet types of lsd's like 1 way, 2 way, and 1.5 way. I know that there is a difference and that, I think, 2 way is better for dragging and 1 way is better for drifting but what makes it different or better? And is there any brand that is better for drift or drag?

Thats the site were I learned about LSD's it should have what you guys are looking for info wise. Now the best drifter that ive heard of is the ATS Deftforce, which a lot of the D1 circuit uses, so its probally best for drifting. for drag i think that the cusco is best, but dont quote me on that.

ive always heard good things about the Kaaz 2way...

1 way acts on accelerating, 1.5 is accelerating and a little on decelerating and 2 way is accelerating and decelerating. 1 way is best for FWD cars since they already understeer alot, 1.5 is a good all around one and 2 way is good for pros.

So the LSD that would best suit one of us would be the 1.5 since we dont have FWD nor are we pros, right?
EDIT: And as far as drifting/dragging does it make a difference which one you should get?

And a VLSD is enough unless you're racing.

yes it is, but its also a shitload of difference.
i heard 1.5 way is better for road. But i guess it wouldnt really matter. What about the nismo one's, lots people use them too. Adjustable sss nismo lsd.

I havent heard too much good bout the Nismo's...but a good bit of the D1 circuit uses one of the Nismo's, dont know which though.

hmm so fatr it sounds like none of them are really bad so ur good as long as you go w/ a mojor company such as kaaz or cusco or nismo i take it

Nismos are good for DD and some racing. But I hear if you want soething less forgiving, the kaaz is very good. www.lsauto.com sells them I believe. I'm thinking of doing a nismo job. I jsut need straight line traction.

depends what type of racing.
drag racing it isn't ideal, because it pretty much only involves big launches from the tree. on the street vlsd is not bad at all! i haven't had any traction problems besides a little chirp going into 2nd, with shitty tires, and thats impressive with the amount of power im putting down. launching from 1st isn't even that bad.
if you are going to the track, get a kazz or quaife. dragstrip doesn't matter which version because they all go on accell, if you are drifting you get a 1.5 or 2 way depending on your driving style.

what driving style deserves a 1.5 and what style deserves a 2 way?
nissanfanatic

1.5 way means lock under accel. Semi lock on decel. 2 way equals lock both ways.
2 way would be good for street/racing. Two way would be good for more racing/less street.

both reasons where 2 way im guessing typo so which was supposed to be 1.5?

Sorry. Number one was supposed to be 1.5 way.
logik23
03-29-2005, 11:13 PM
The thing is that the higher the number (1, 1.5, 2) the more stable the car is when cornering, but the more understeer there is. That's why you don't want more then a 1way on a FF car and if you get a 2way, you want some wide ass tires in the front.

im think 1.5 thanks guys
nissanfanatic
03-30-2005, 04:53 PM
Not always logik. Any of them take some getting used to before you are good with them. The 1 way only provides equal power to both wheels on acceleration. The 1.5 way provides equal distribution to both wheels on accel and partial on decel. The 2 way provides locking on both accel and decel. You can imagine how hard it would be to go have a track day if you have only ever driven open diff cars but get stuck driving a two way equipped car. Seems to me like it would be pretty easy to spin out in turns.

put it this way, with my 2 way Kazz, when i just got it, i almost spun out exiting the freeway. i NEVER let go of the gas when i'm in a TURN, or the car will slide out! hell toe, and hold the gas.
one u get used to it, it hella fun and it improved my exiting and truning speed BIG TIME!

so 2 way takes some getting used to when driving and probablly makes it a lot more fun in rain? i take it

2 ways you really have to learn how to drive them... i'd end up spinning out my car in minutes hehe.
get a 1.5... its the easiest to drive around the city and has the most benefits, and least amount of downfalls.
