From the Associated Press:Crowded House Drummer Hester Found Dead
SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- The drummer from 1980s Australian rock band Crowded House hanged himself in a park in southern Australia, an emergency services spokeswoman said Monday.
Paul Hester, 46, went missing on Friday. His body was found Saturday in a park near his home in the southern city of Melbourne, said Metropolitan Ambulance Service spokeswoman Liraje Memishi.
Hester played in several small bands before joining the New Zealand group Split Enz in 1983. He and Split Enz singer Neil Finn formed Crowded House in 1985 with bass player Nick Seymour.
Crowded House was one of Australia's most successful bands in the late 1980s and early 1990s, with international hits such as "Don't Dream it's Over" and "Weather with You."
I remember their heydays back in the '80s when their songs were all over the radio. They say celebrity deaths usually occur in threes. Well this is the 3rd one in the past couple of weeks with the band member from Molly Hatchet, and the guitarist from Foghat also passing away. Let's hope that this is it for now.

True I wish the world would stop blaming us Aussies for all those Kiwis. Just a joke, we luves ya.
But very sad to hear of Paul Hester's death. He always gave the impression of being the happiest guy. Just goes to show you never know what is lurking underneath the public exterior.

Not quite. Only Neil Finn (I suppose you can count Tim as well in spite of him joining the band rather late), was a Kiwi- Hester and Nick Seymour were both Aussies, more of an Australasian band than anything, each country can rightly claim it, but then again, it's Neil's band and that means NZ has a more credible claim, too bad he formed it in Melbourne :p.
Either way, it's horrible to hear about Hesters untimely death :(
