My Sig pretty much sais it all...Except the bank will only loan me 5000 wich means ill have 4000 from my current cars,2000 from my savings, and 5000 form the bank. Is 11,000 enough to get me a decent VR-4?I have seen autotrader and ebay but i dont know if those are good sources to buy cars. I would rather go to a dealership..anyways..is it?
Thanks

You can get a great first gen for that price but probably not a good second gen. Go the autotrader route, thats where the best deals are and remember that dealers are just as likely to sell you a junk car as a regular person, but with a regular person you can ask them about their experience with the car.. the dealers don't know what kind of shape its in realy since they don't drive the cars much. I've gotten both of the 3000GTs I've bought off of autotrader and gotten a good deal on them both and nothing has gone majourly wrong with either of them. Just know what to look for and ask.

I just got a '92 VR4 with only 77,000 miles. It even has had new interior put in it (The sun cracked the original leather). Everything on it works except the boost gauge which the dealer told me is about $230 to replace. mostly due to the labor of taking the dash off. I wish I knew how hard it was to do, might do it myself. Anyway, if you are patient and look around, you can find a nice one for that money.

DO NOT spend all of it. Id try to keep 2 grand laying around incase the car needs anything.

OK, I need to know. How hard is it to get to the old gauge to replace it? I assume the dash has to come off.
Will an aftermarket gauge fit the stock location? Or do you need to mount it on the pillar or somewhere else?

Anybody replaced to stock gauge?

Stock guage is a POS. Taking off teh dash in a PITA. But if you do, put in an aftermarket gauge. The stock one runs of estimations...not actual boost, so its worthless...

I know it has lots of miles but nothing a little engine resortation should do the trick right?

hmm, that one doens't look too bad, the high mileage could be a bad thing, but if it's been cared for than it shouldn't be too much of a problem... if you know anyone who'se a mechnic or anything, have him come with you too look at the car, and also doesn't hurt to get a carfax rpt.

11k is more then enough. I would get a 2nd gen just for the 6 speed and black dash. Also make sure you get exactly what you want, otherwise you'll regret it.

As for the guy w/ the boost gauge. Go to www. stealth316.com and there are instructions for removing the dash. You don't need to remove the dash to get at the boost gauge though. You can do it through the center vents. I even removed mine through the glovebox. But IMO it is a lot easier to remove the dash then it is to go through the vents or glovebox.

R_C, in all honest opinion, I'd say save for around $15-16K. You could get a very nice, low mile, 94-96.
