rear hatch won't open

I have a 99 Gr. caravan and the rear hatch won't open. it's like a linkage has fallen off or something. I'd try to fix it but the door is shut. Any suggestions on the easiest way to open it.

Climb inside and open the back cover (panel), you will see the latch inside, use a screw driver and pop the latch.
I was at the junk yard last week and needed to open one to remove the tail light lense and did just what I told you.
